We all got called in last Friday and another company , someone we supply is buying out our side of the company . Long story short .

It completes this Friday and the people with company cars etc have been told they have to be given back this Friday .

It just all seems incredibly short notice ? The logistics manager is from Sheffield we are based in Leeds so she got given a company car and fuel paid for so she would come work up here.
We've had no consultation or anything of the sort just a 20 minute meeting last Friday telling us we are being tupe across and after that the director shot out of the door quicker than Usain bolt !

Our HR lady is coinsidently away this week too 🙄

You keep doing the job you do. They have to keep paying you for it. Terms, conditions, benefits and renumeration carry accross.

In the short term, that is it.

If they want you to do a different job, that change to your terms and conditions is open to negotiation between you and them (that's your reply: "You want me to start work an hour earlier? That's certainly open to negotiation.").

If they no longer want/need you to do your job, they can make your job redundant (but they can't then put someone else in to do your job, that would be wrongful dismissal).

If you do not want to work for them, you are generally free to leave unencumbered.

I've been through it twice now. In most cases, they need you more than you need them because they just bought a company and don't know how it works.

My current new boss of 3 months announced she wanted us to work on call on saturday mornings, meaning I would have work of some sort every other saturday rather than every 4th. I told her straight-up no. I don't want to, she can't make me and she knows it.

I'm not saying it wont be a total pain in the arse. People who aquire other companies seem to be unable to resist immediately fucking with every established system for no reason other than because it's not how they would have done it. They cause chaos, some staff can't cope and leave. Usually the staff who were pivotal in the workings of those systems. This is when you jump in and get a promotion or demand more money.

As of the end of this month, I'm the only one of the 4 "front of house" staff left who were working here in june. I'm the only one who knows the customers and their working practices. I requested a meeting with my area manager and straight-up said I was finding things extremely stressful, that I was considering leaving and explained how totally screwed they would be if I did. Then asked for a pay rise. As far as I'm concerned, they coughed up enough for me to give them another 6 months to see if it settles down.

I could be wrong and maybe they'll sit and see how the company works for the first while (presumably they didn't just buy a company that is making a loss and crap at what it does). THEN look at how they could improve things.

One thing to watch though, is if you do go for promotion or more money, you may find that your old contract is replaced by one directly for the new company, and you are no longer protected under the TUPE rules. Be aware of what you're signing up for if this is the case.

The above it totally correct, I went through this a few years ago, if your hours change it's a great place to leverage some extra pay. If you have any other questions, it's worth speaking to ACAS

Just a quick one . The new company are wanting us to come in on the weekend of 17 and 18 to do a full stock take .

Problem here is I haven't worked a weekend in about 8 years and don't get paid for it as I'm salaried . Can I refuse ?

Edit . I'm not either way as it's the young ones 10th birthday party

The 17th and 18th? That's when you're going to have vomiting flu isn't it?
(just don't post party evidence on FB etc)
