If you want a proper VOIP handset, you need a SIP phone and a VOIP provider to provision the handset with and host the line.
I have my own white labelled platform with NTA and charge my customers £10 + vat a month for a line with 5,000 free minutes to 01,02,03 and 07 numbers, plus way cheaper international calls than a BT line. I don't do domestic customers though, only business.
If it's just one line, couldn't you just put a VOIP app on your mobile? If not Ringcentral should be able to sell one line. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

I have a VoIP phone system from Altos (myphones.com). It's cheap, reliable and provides good call quality.
You don't need a specialised VoIP/SIP phone - I use my DECT cordless system through a Cisco ATA (analogue terminal adaptor) which was provided by my supplier. If you have an ATA you can use any standard landline system you want.
Oh and I ported my old BT landline number to it as well |

I've been using it for years; it's excellent.
I'd dump it over my landline like a shot, except I'm effectively forced to keep one by Virginmedia (who I don't want to dump as their broadband here is otherwise really good).
I use it as a second, backup landline number (my chosen number has the same area code as my landline, too) for those occasions when you need to provide somebody with a contact number but almost certainly you really don't want them actually contacting you... I have mine set up to send me any (very rare) voicemails it receives as an email attachment; and I can't get pestered by hangups. ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |
