After 30 odd years in the saddle I've developed my own brand of defensive riding and when the traffic stops I always filter to the front so that so if someone behind fails to stop I'm not the one that gets rear-ended.

Well, it stood me in good stead today: As I filtered past the end car, white van man behind me slammed straight into the back of it. I stopped to help and the damage and injuries were significant.

Good job I didn't stop at the end of that queue – I'd have been squished. As it stood, my only damage was to my underwear! I reckon that's the closest I've ever been to a crash without actually being in one. Methinks that alcohol may have to be consumed later. Wink
