As per title I don't have a garage & recently bought what I deemed to be a mid range cover as it had a strap you can tie up underneath the bike to stop the wind from blowing it off. When going out this morning I got down stairs & found the strap had let go (only velcro) & the cover wrapped around one of the mirrors. Mad How hard is it to make a bike cover that does up properly underneath the bike with proper poppers or a better arrangement? Anyway any of you guys got any recommendations? Ta very muchly. Thumbs Up

You don't want metal fixings if you like your paint. Better covers use webbing straps and plastic clips. I tried buying a semi-fitted cover from the very special people known as Specialised and once they managed to get the order right I had a fitted cover that was right on a Suzuki marauder, a virago and a bandit and has survived for over 6 years now. Looks like they've withdrawn the dayglo pink they thought was red.

I dont use the cover in high winds though, doesn't protect from impact with ground and it's an utter bastard pickuping up a bike inside a fitted cover.

Not a lot of help but the Lidl cover from a few years ago (2014 I think) was excellent, its always stayed on different bikes with no strapping. Like their gloves I've no idea why they changed the design Crying or Very sad

Another vote for Oxford Stormex.
Mine has finally given up the ghost, but it has served me well for 6 years!

I'd say the Stormex too. There was a problem with them a while back though where the seam-seal tape would peel - don't know if they've sorted this yet.

I used to sell Held covers at one place I worked, which were popular and looked quite good quality, although I never used one myself.

The stormex is a great heavyweight cover but I find it a pain in the arse for daily use on and off the bike due to its weight and the strength of the elastic used round the bottom generally catching on pegs, crash bungs and pinging up around the plate while trying to get it over the front end also any muck picked up around the bottom then gets dragged over your paint work.

The aquatex is lighter weight but still waterproof enough and stays put, much easier getting it on and off the bike as well.

I've had 2 aquatex covers, the first blew away in heavy wind (it's not elasticated, so it's a pain in the ass to do up the strap underneath especially if it is windy), the second which I still have has turned brittle and has split in several places. I use it on my Deauville, my shed is a bit crammed with two bikes so I keep one outside.

I was considering the Oxford stormtex or the R&G next, I had an R&G years back and it lasted fairly well. But everyone here seems to bum the stormtex so I think I'll try one of those.

It's the price that puts me off. That's like 5 Lidl covers Smile

Thanks for the suggestions guys. There seems to be a dramatic difference in prices on eBay also what size should I get it's for my wolf which although big for a 125 is smaller than say a bandit. Thumbs Up

Well my Aquatex covers are mediums. In my old flat I had an undercover parking space, so I used them more as dust covers.

The bikes they fit nicely were:

Street triple
Zrx1200R
Zx7r

They fit very tight over the deauville and I've torn it since it's become brittle. So for that when I buy the Oxford stormtex cover I'd need a large.

So for your 125 I'd get a medium, can always pull the strap tight, plus then it's useful for your next bike.

If you get the R&G, mine was for a ZX7r that spent 2 years outside. The cover was the sport bike cover, it went mouldy in the end as water would pool on the top. If I got the r and g now. I'd go for the adventure sized one for the deauville. For you I'd stick to the sport bike cover.

There is also Rainex which is like a lighter Stormex. My other half has Rainex and I have Stormex. Both have the same elasticated cuff. I find the easiest way to put it on is to find one of the holes at the back and loop it over an indicator. Then do the front of the bike, pull the cover down over the back and then sort out all the bits that have caught on the sides. Having the cover attached at the back stops all the cursing as the cover pings forward and falls off the side of the bike.

i used to use a £7.99 cover from ebay and use a bungee strap around the seat and under the bike to hold the cover down.
the covers from the motorcycle bay i used to use kept getting stolen so had to also resort to using a cheap bicycle wire lock also to stop the thefts

the cheap cover worked and did the job and at the price of a mcdonalds signature burger meal i was happy that it lasted more than 12 months

I had mine for a couple of years before the seams started peeling. It was on a bike I'd left out all summer of this year so I'm assuming that the hot weather may have done something to the adhesive on the seams. Can't be certain though.
