Depend entirely what you're importing as to the level of duty you will face.
You're right to worry about him shipping separately though, if they pull each one up individually you'll be fucked on the handling charges alone. ____________________ Mpd72: I can categorically say i’m Brighter than that, no matter how I come across on here.

It would be unlucky to get done on import duty and VAT for some old parts list books. |

UPDATE
The items arrived last week via Royal Mail and there was no handling charge levied or VAT/Import Duty to pay.
The seller did combine the postage costs and sent a refund of £ 20.70.

It seems unclear when you will get a fee or not, a problem area is that Royal Mail charge £8 to collect a fee even if it's only pennies.
A $30 camera strap I got from USA ended up costing nearly £40 |

Something I neglected to mention earlier is that the package arrived 'damaged'. It had been opened by person or persons unknown and put into a clear plastic outer with a sticker attached stating that it had been received by The Royal Mail in a damaged condition.
I do wonder who decided to take a peek inside my package and what their motivation might have been ____________________ A good loser will always be a loser. |
