Today I fitted a new front brake master cylinder to my Honda CB250.

The job only took me just over an hour, including preparation, the job and clean up.

The Only potential problems were, removal of the mirror, removal of the
banjo bolt and undoing the bleed nipple. Thankfully no problems in all
three cases.

The new unit was a pattern part for a CD250U from Wemoto, the only
downside is the location of where the hose connects, I had to reroute
the brake line a bit and the new unit didn't have banjo bolt or washers.

For this job I used the existing Banjo Bolt plus new copper washers I
just happen to have in stock, I also used the original brake switch.

After the job I pushed the bike down the driveway and applied the
brakes and they work fine, it feels exactly the same as the old unit
before starting the job.

I haven't road tested yet because the weather is foul and not a wise
move to test ride on a wet road after screwing around with Brakes.

Changed headlamp fuse that blew lastnight on the way home.

Oiled chain.

Took 10yr old child out for an hour on it. Turns out she's a little speed demon and constantly wants to go faster.

In progress - attempting to replace thermostat. Got fairings off, tank up and airbox off. So much dirt shit and rust under there - I will be swapping new tb rubbers with shiny new clamps, possibly newish thermost housing and new hoses, if I get time.
The coolant is not too old, I may replace.

Also will be investigating the throttle cable its a bit crunchy to turn and may need to be replaced soon. It is only a year old Mad

Got a lipo screwdriver from aldi yesterday, quite pleased. Significantly quicker to do fairings.

Dzus 1/4 turn fastners. Makes owning a faired bike tolerable.

New front brake pads for the CB500 after the old ones were nearly down to the backing plate. It's a pleasure to work on the caliper of an old bike that's barely seen any winter use. So different to the rest of my crusty, salty old hacks.

I managed to snap a mounting lug for bodywork off the frame of the CBF1000 a few months ago. I did it with a combination of an impact driver and extremely poor judgement. Embarassed

So today I drilled and pinned the joint then schlapped it together with JB Weld and a little metal plate behind it to add strength. It's not a particularly stressed joint and only holds one of the small plastic infill panels so hopefully it'll hold.

At 105k miles these fairings have been off as much as your mothers panties. Its no great effort.

Who wants to guess how this happened? Ive had the bike since 2011, ridden a good distance every winter always suspected it was stuck open. Looks more closed than open tbh. I cant see how this could happen in use. Bike had a lot of history and was all dealership before I got her. Bodged by a professional or factory OE fitted like that?

Very relieved that I bought new intake rubbers, the old clamps were seized and had to be cut off with a carbide burr. I may have fuckkered the throttle bodies Embarassed they would not remove and leverage in the wrong place. Nothing a tube of epoxy cant fix. Should not cause any problems.

Update: Throttle bodies repaired, good as new. Old tb intake rubbers were badly cracking on the engine side. Thermostat, top of housing and two hoses replaced.

Suzuki Inazuma front and rear pads fitted, fronts were nearly gone.

Got a chance to test ride the Inazuma I'm buying next year, all went
well but I did get a shock when I used the indicators and I was hearing
beepy noises.. Yes it has a reminder, another modification.

Roll on April when I'm replacing my CB250 with the inazuma all thanks
to Kunthead Khan....

Mines 113K - They still make life considerably easier. I also suspect my mother has your bike beaten.

Had to remove battery again when it decided to crank the starter every time you turn the ognition off. Pretty sure the solenoid is toast. Bit the bullet and ordered an OEM one, a fuckton of Honda's use them. Too dark and tired to do anything else.

Work rat was pulled out, fired up, chain lubed, lights tested.

I had a 350 YPVS and was asked to test ride and bring back a 125 lc a mate wanted to buy.
The return journey on that little 125lc was brilliant fun - only 20 miles but it was so nimble, radgy and easy to ride.

Replaced oe clutch slave cylinder on the rsv for an Oberon. Old one was leaking loads...needed fluid topping up every couple days. I was hoping it'd just be a seal but the cylinder was in a really bad state, plenty of corrosion/pitted all over. £92 odd quid. Clutch feels a lot lighter but I prefered the heaviness of the oe clutch.

Found spare brake and clutch levers, and a roll of heating wire. An hour later I have heated levers. 10r/ 1 meter of wire per lever.

Pulled muffs of bike, they are 4 years old and have a hole. Plan to get the new ones fitted today but it means making some new bar end locators.

Fitted new starter solenoid. Re-roued wires. Figured out where old one was getting soaked (it only stuck on when it was pissing it down), and sorted that particular water ingress out.
Charged battery.
Lubed chain.
Removed obvious muck.
Started her.

Fired up the CBF and The Suzuki, recorded the mileages at the same time.
Adjusted and lubed the chain on the CB250, also recorded the mileage.

So what's this mileage shit all about? my policy restricts me to 29K per year
which is about 9,600 per bike.

In 2018 I clocked up just 24316 miles, average of 506 miles a week based
on 48 weeks a year.

Bar end locators done. Muffs will have a pocket for the plastic, to stop flapping around at high speeds.
