Bolton 1980 was the first time I saw them and in Manchester in '91.

Just brill both occasions, apart from getting to Bolton late because Chinny got chucked off the train for 'losing his train ticket'.

Bolton gig was in a big gym hall...Strip lights on all through the show Laughing

Pete sure knew how to create 2:30 mini masterpieces and wasn't afraid of electronics or scoring for film.

This album slipped through the net and it shouldn't have.

Shows off Howard's strangeness and the music is all Pete.

Slipped through my net - never seen that before!

My middle pubert is spinning the wax (metaphorically - all his music is on a memory stick and a laptop...) at the local gin and cocktail palace again tonight and has promised a few Shelley tunes amongst the smooth sounds of acid-jazz. I have suggested Moving Away from the Pulsebeat and his cover of Better off Without a Wife. Might pop down for a pint later!

I saw them at the 100 Club a few times in the 70s. Without a doubt, they were one of the better punk bands and still a firm favourite. 63 is too young. Sad

I know punk was all about rawness and having a go and. whilst I appreciate those that just stood up there and hacked away at their instruments, the reality was that the people who actually bothered to learn to play and compose a decent song, always stood out.

I remember hearing on the news when he died, and also when Elvis died, and in both cases I didn't know who they were.

They were people who died.

It happens to the best and worst of us just the same. 🤣

Penny Marshall Crying or Very sad

I was a big fan of her in Laverne and Shirley (she played Laverne) ... I dont know why, but she reminded me of a modern day (back then) Lucille Ball, although Lucy was more gorgeously glam. The comic oddball bird really appealed to my sense of humour, and I related to her persona.

She went on to become better known for being a director (or is it a producer), her first big wellknown film being Big with Tom Hanks.

I R genuinely sad.

I regards to Paddy Ashdown. IMO On the whole politicians who have properly served in the armed forces and done stuff, rather than MP's who have got the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme medals, have a proper understanding of the realities of war, conflicts, police actions, and the like, and tend to talk less utter bollocks on that front, and seem to be worth listening to when they talk about it.

I've never really understood why their personal life really factors into politics. It used to, back in the 1980s when a lot of oldies believed in family values and all that, but they were pretty much all repressed anyway.

So he had one affair over 5 months with his secretary? So what? If he did what he said he was going to do in is professional and political life, it makes him better than 80% of other politicians around. If that was the only bad thing he did in his life, then what the heck? You've got gay MP's who aren't officially 'out', you've got MP's who have spent lots of time with various prostitutes etc... it's hardly crime of the century.

Spooky thing is that in the Daily Fail there was an article about June
and the fact she hated modern TV because comedy was crap and there
was too much sex and violence on TV....

RIP JUNE. Sad
