Hi, I have a Bullit Spirit 125 EFi which has done about 5,000 miles.

I've had one or two issues with it, but am really stuck with the current running fault.

The bike when started cuts out straight away, you start for a second time and it runs, sometimes needing throttle to keep it going.

Once you set off and approach the first two junctions/stopping points it cuts out unless you throttle. from then on it doesn't cut out for the rest of the journey.

Coupled with this, the bike hesitates when you ease of the throttle and then throttle on again, almost feeling like someone has held onto the bike and after a few seconds then lets go. This has now been happening for approximately 500 miles.

the Lambda sensor has been replaced, it's been serviced including the clearances being set-up, I've put several fuel treatments through also.

Does anyone have any idea what this may be? I ordered the bike from a company several hundred miles away and so taking it back is difficult, they have in fairness to them sent me the parts that have gone wrong without any fuss.

I have an ignition coil/HT lead on the way as I feel it could be that.

again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi, no it started maybe 2 months ago, maybe 3. The bike was running fine, then one day it just started playing up with this fault overnight.

From what you say / state it is showing signs of a weak mixture.
If the air filter and exhaust are standard then it`s back to the supplier.

Yeah they're standard. Ok thank you, I'll find a dealer closer to me.

The only other thing I've thought of and that was just now, is the exhaust is wrapped. I wonder if it's damaged/holed underneath the wrap?

Hi all,

I've found and fixed the fault yay. So the misfire, running fault, cutting out and hesitation were all caused by the clutch level button on the handle bars.

I have a new one coming, but for now have connected the two wires with a bridging wire.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Chuffed i found this one out after a couple of hours of fault finding 👍🏼

I can see that affecting the starting but can't see why it would make the bike cut out.

When I pulled the clutch in to change gear whilst slowing down it was cutting the circuit. Bridged the circuit cutting the switch out and it's all good

What you could have is something like a dodgy sidestand cut out switch, and shorting the clutch switch has "cured" that.

Do you mean replacing it cured it, or shorting it cured it?

Cut it out cured it. So put a new one on which has also cured it.

Fair play, although, if it was my bike, I would also, remove/blank the side stand switch, if it has 1, or is the side stand on these, one of those that spring back as soon as pressure is lifted?

This ^^
Just takes the odd bump in the road to affect a sidestand switch and temporarily cut out an engine.

Weird.

The clutch switch goes on every time you pull in the clutch, so it shouldn't affect anything (except starting*) any more than pulling the clutch in and out would.

Your bike is clearly haunted

* The one my Bandit is currently shorted out as otherwise I have to jiggle the switch to get it to start.
