My mate always uses a pressure washer to clean his gasgas but despite being really careful where he points it, he's replacing bearings once or twice a year. Our bikes have come home in some ridiculous states in the last few weeks - but I've stuck with a bucket, sponge and brush. Then drying it off with rags, then some WD over stuff, and a bit of time and effort on the chain (paraffin, clean rag, repeat until rag or kitchen towel is coming away pretty clean - then ep90).

Bearings have become consumables for the pampera. I haven't replaced any on the klx. It could be that the pressure washer is nowt to do with it. Maybe there's some other problem. But if it's related, we're between us probably spending the same amount of time cleaning our bikes when you add in bearing removal and fitting. Only difference is, I'm not spending on bearings.

Hi

Not a pressure washer, but I do use a worx hydroshot, https://www.worx.com/en_GB/20v-max-li-ion-power-cleaner.html

Not as powerful as a mains powerwash, but more powerful that a hand pump sprayer, I've found it really good at washing all but the worst crud off the bikes, especially, once they have been sprayed with bike cleaner. I don't use mine off road though, well, not intentionally Smile so, couldn't say for certain that the hydroshot would be powerful enough for yours, but, it is worth considering

CRF needs it every now and then, I don't find it particularly hard not to blast wheel bearings, swinging arm and steering head.
Riding in rain or wet salty roads must be just as bad and usually goes on much longer than five minutes.
The road bike isn't usually out in wet mucky conditions and might go a full year without needing any sort of wash.

I don't currently but I have done many times with no issues and without being particularly careful where I spray it.

Both wheels? Is he using sealed bearings? Is he using good quality bearings from a known manufacturer?

I currently just go with a spray over with muckoff and a hose down with cold water.

He's quite meticulous when it comes to stuff like this, having a background in engineering at BAE. He's also unlikely to scrimp on parts. I'm also pretty sure the gasgas has sealed bearings as standard and that he replace like with like. Part of it may be that he has a tendency to strip stuff, feel it, test it - etc. If he feels some grating or slight resistance he'll replace stuff. Whereas I don't go looking for problems but who knows - if he had my bike he might've found all sorts of stuff that he personally would replace, fettle or meddle with.

I think a hose is the best way for a shit clogged bike - but I find I'm actually faster with a bucket and a small hand brush, and the end results aren't that much different. I do have crud clogged bash plate though that I need to try and get all that sludge out of. That's pissing me off and is one good example of wear a hose with a bit of pressure, or even a pressure washer, would be really useful.

I used to use a pressure washer but now I can't be arsed setting it up.
There's a setting on my hose gun which is good enough to rinse off the suds.
