I'll take the cover off and see how things are working.
The weights are round, how can they be in wrong.
Cheers guys

The rollers are often fitted only one way around. It might not cause the noise, but might cause premature wear of the thrust end. Worth checking anyway[1]. Look carefully at the ends of the rollers and check which way around they go in the manual. Also check that the (3) plastic guides are present and correctly fitted and that the variator nut's been tightened properly.
The drive side main bearing is just behind the variator. To check, remove the variator and the magneto flywheel from the ends of the crankshaft. Remove the sparking plug. Rotate the crankshaft in stages and feel for any radial movement (both crankstaft ends) at various points.
Edit: You can use an "engine stethescope" to listen to various parts of the engine when it's running. A long wooden spoon, stick, or screwdriver is ideal. Put the "sharp end" against the crankcase where you want to listen to a component, e.g. a main bearing, with the engine running. Be careful of any rotating parts (and the HT side of the electrics of course!) Put the "blunt end" against that sort of triangular flappy bit just in front of your ear's hole, and push against the blunt end so that it pushes the flappy bit against your ear's hole to close the hole. You will hear all sortis of interesting noises from various parts of your engine. A worn main bearing gives a slightly grinding fast swishing sound.
