To correct MPD on his statement about the composition of LNG being 90% tops.

The composition of LNG from the middle east suppliers so basically 90% methane and the rest other burnable gasses.

Composition from other suppliers

https://naturalgasglobal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/The-average-compositions-of-LNG.jpg

Remember, Natural gas is a slightly different composition to Liquefied Natural Gas due to the change in properties when cooling it to -160C to liquefy it.

https://altc-jo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/service-desc.jpg

I don't ever remember carrying an LNG cargo with a Methane content lower than 90% in 30 years of being in the LNG shipping business. Most from Borneo and Nigeria were in excess of 95%.

It was easy to monitor the Methane capacity purely by monitoring the boiling point of the cargo although we did have much more specific testing apparatus for use when showing the buyer the composition.

Here endeth the lesson Cool

Pfffft, means nothing that - he went to night school for an IT qualification, therefore he knows more about it than you, who spent years in the trade. Laughing

Not difficult to confuse someone who can't use karma ratings correctly, and has to keep unenemying me to read what I'm saying.

Ah but we do use far too much methane/gas/farts or whatever composition it is.

Can't be arsed to type much tonight but we used to use coal gas (from coking coal for steel production) to make chemicals and light/heat things.
The fact that coal isn't produced much now means we need alternatives and natural gases are it.
We can make our own gas but politics stops us.

This looks like a lovely thread re the recycling/energy bit, but in a Saddiqe Kahn thread?

Why can't we have a lot more energy conservation measures, like resumption of grants to externally insulate houses (especially mine), and generate a lot more nuclear power so that we can use more electricity directly or indirectly (hydrogen) in transport (since it's the biggest producer of greenhouse gas)?

Must admit I gasped when you mentioned external cladding!

Is the charred tower still standing?

Not in my heart, please don't assume everyone gives a fuck.

It's a tragedy, yes, but that's the end of. I'm not going to self flagellate over the fact loads died.

Even less for the illegals, who if they hadn't been here illegally would still be alive.

I agree, although from the perspective that a bunch of human beings died. Whilst there's some validity to the illegals angle, some people on here suggesting they didn't matter because they were immigrant doleys made me extremely uncomfortable.

Not necessarily, if they were still where they were from, they may already have been deaded.

Because I can see the difference between people taking a major risk and a group of people dying in a residential fire Rolling Eyes Your problem with Grenfell wasn't that some of them were illegals, it was that they were mainly immigrant gimmedats.

My point is unless you're a massive c**t, whether they're diversities in West London, or a block full of whiteys dying in Hull, it shouldn't make a difference.

We should be mourning the loss of 711 in this country?

It's been more than twenty years, get over it?
