Last year I have invested over 1k in textile jacket and trousers. With such high investment I expect them to last at least 5 years with occasional riding. However, I noticed that velcro is completely ruining my clothes.

For example, I wear kidney warmer which has velcro on it, this velcro is sticking to the thermal liner that is inside the jacket and slowly slowly damaging it. Then I have velcro at the bottom part of the trousers, which when wearing on or off sometimes touches the socks and it ruined more than 2 pairs so far.Same happens with the upper part of the jacket, there is a velcro that is damaging the neck warmer. There are also gloves that have a velcro on them and when I use the inner glove it's impossible to completely avoid it while trying to put a hand in.

Since motorcycle clothes is so expensive this is not a small damage to have to replace everything so often. Why manufacturers don't use different technology. Do you guys experience the same issues?

Velcro on my jacket shredded the right sleeve, in the end I sowed a big leather patch over it.

So I'm not the only one. I wouldn't be surprised if manufacturers were doing it on purpose to shorten the life of the clothes.

Biggest problem ive had with Velcro is that the soft bit wears and loses its stick within a year..really annoying on the RST pro stuff.

I have some Halvaarsons stuff coming soon which uses magnets instead. Not convinced by that either but will see what it's like.
