Quick sanity check. Check the manual to see if the bike is supposed to be upright or on the sidestand when you check the oil level. If you're topping it up on the sidestand when it's supposed to be level, you're probably overfilling it (assuming sight glass is on the right) and it could well be breathing/burning the excess.

If it's not that and oil isn't dripping out then it's either coming out of the breather or burning it. Check your airbox as most modern bikes would dump breathed out oil in here.

Get someone to follow you and look for blue smoke. Smoke under acceleration suggests worn/broken rings. Smoke on the overrun suggests valve stem oil seals.

Take it back there.

It is not likely that human intput would hurt a new-ish engine.

I used to hammer an ER6F to get it to move.

It would be odd for a bike to suddenly start burning oil, and a tiny change in the angle of the bike makes a big change in the oil level in the sight glass.
If it was burning enough oil to get through half a litre in 60 miles, the exhaust would be noticeably smoky. It would mean you're burning about 90% petrol, 10% oil.

Almost all bikes I have used are parked on 'Level' ground on side stand.

Most require the engine to be cold as it also drastically affects the oil level reading.

Some use a sight-glass on the engine case/block.
Some have a line etched on the glass or a reflector with a dot at the back of the glass.

Other systems use a dipstick with marks where normal/safe oil 'range' is indicated. Low-High etc.

Some need the dipstick to be removed, wiped and just sat in the hole Not Screwed back in.

As mentioned the difference in the angle of dangle is very important.

You can find the 'exact' way to check oil and other stuff in the owners handbook.
Or a google search might provide the book too.

ER6''s do tend to use oil. They have a low capacity and run on the hot side.
If it has suddenly started using oil it may not like the particular brand so dicuss it with the shop and try something else.
Also check there is coolant in the bike, if there isn't it will run hot and burn oil.

Both my Versys' used a drop.

But +1 on the oil brand. Through America, my XT would burn Motul, but I switched to super cheap Walmart stuff and it didn't burn a drop.

This is also very true.

My exs Honda diesel car used to gulp engine oil. We were usinv Tesco brand.
I swapped to Mobil 5-30 and oil consumption droped to less than 1/2 what it was before.
Maybe something in the additive package basicaly engine oil is all 'base oil' but the more shit they add the more expensive they make it.

Fuck it. I think the OP has flounced already. Shocked
