Good morning all (Hopefully this is the correct section on the forum to post this)

My name is Jamie, I am based in Glenrothes, Fife. I am new to the forum this year too Smile

Last year I thought about starting up a small motorcycle tour guide business, the business would run bike tours all over Scotland such as riding the Inner and Outer Hebrides, Skye, NC 500, Coast to Coast and tour of the borders.
I am now starting to get a website designed, social media pages set up and so on. I have 10 years road riding experience, before I passed my bike test, I had a go at trials riding, some motocross then onto enduro riding.
I am currently in the middle of setting up a small business to run bike tours during my time off from offshore work, currently working a 3 on 3 off rotation so plenty time at home. I have been doing my own adventures around Scotland since buying my first camper van in 2008, since then I just love getting out and about all over Scotland and exploring, back in 2016 I converted my LWB Mercedes Sprinter into a motorhome with garage, kitted out for bigger and better adventures.
Bikes passed and present - First road bike was a 600 bandit, then I moved onto a Z1000 streetfighter, I have never owned a sported bike as I like the more sit up bikes, after the z1000 I bought a newer one and kept that for a year before buying my first BMW GS, I went to BMW Motorrad in Dundee to have a look at them along with Drysdales KTM in Perth. The BMW was the bike for me, I loved the look of the 1200 GS adventure but when I went to view one in Dundee it was a lot bigger than I thought....ha-ha, I then decided to go for the R1200 GS on a 2010 plate which I kept for a year, then I traded it in and bought a 2011 GSA. The GSA with all the gadgets on it was great on road and a little off road riding, last year I sold this bike and bought the newer BMW GSA LC model and I absolutely love this bike.

I have been touring all over Scotland for years whether on the bike, mountain biking or in the campervan, I have marked out some of the best roads there Is for riding on, stunning scenery and amazing beaches. Bike tours will have a variety of options - Bike tours with B&B, Bike tours and wild camping, Bike tours and camping on sites, Bike tours with Micro lodges and Wigwams, Weekend tours running Friday to Monday, Bike tours over 4-10 days.

Bike hire and rider kit available for hire on request.

Like I said, I am now in the process of getting this tour business up and running, I am also open to suggestions, other riders experience, what else can I offer etc so fire away Smile
Tours can be bespoke for group riders, whisky trail through Scotland, Scotland will blow you away once you see what is hidden out in there.

Regards
Jamie

Hello Jamie (grabs lube) I'll go easy on you..

Umm an interesting introduction and good for you getting off your arse and doing the other stuff. Sorta anyway!
My only gripe with Scotland is the following..
Every year, several times a year I'd take breaks up on the Ardnimachuran Peninsula. You'll know yourself it's a magical place. Personally I connect with it in so many ways..
Last year I ended up not visiting - sure my life took a twist, but for me every single place almost doubled their accommodation prices in the space of a season. Yup - seems that '500 thing' has dragged in greed too. One example is I could hire a 4 berth static for £200 for 7 nights. Fantastic value even if it was an older caravan.
Personally I've seen outright greed up there - yes I want people to make a profit and yes I want people to see what I saw but that? It stinks.
This coming season I'll be the tramp wildcamping on the roadside.

Anyhoo, welcome to the forum. Lots and lots of touring adventures stuff to read through and lots of help too. Must warn - you'll need the skin of an elephant at times here!

Good morning mate, thanks for your reply, yes it sure is pricey during the high season, and trying to get good half decent accommodation is becoming harder and harder. I will do the NC 500 and a few other good tour routes around Scotland, the inner and outer Hebrides is an awesome place, with some of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen, and again this is expensive during the summer. This is why I like to tour on the bike as the roads are very busy at times, the bike is ideal.
I have a website being made just now, once that is up and running I will have more details, planned tours, dates and price list.

Thanks

I can see why overseas you'd rent a bike/go on a tour, but Scotland Confused Don't most people just ride to Wales or Scotland and find their own way around?

I daresay they are possibly interesting, and even beautiful places, but can't understand why anyone would want to actually invade them Confused

Yes, assuming retards pay money to tour Scotland. It is something anyone can do.

Even touring Spain, unless you are dead set about seeing true spanish life, then just riding and stopping in places you like is easy... we did it Laughing

I think perhaps some of you downplay the experience and knowhow involved in doing it the 'rough' way, or just heading in a direction and playing it by ear. First thing that would come to my mind is knowing about how greedy hoteliers can be - independents sometimes charge a fortune for absolute crap. Going from Premier Inn to Holiday Inn, etc. at least you know what you're getting. What this guy's flogging is the idea of taking all the unknowns out of the equation. Sort of like Saga holidays appointing people to walk the elderly through airport check-ins, etc. That said, I'm probably not buying. The Scotland Tour Experience hahaha

Well, no, you should really have started your own topic. But since you only came here to spread spam links about edusson it doesn't really matter, does it?
