Are there really people so stupid/filthy/ignorant/disgusting (and any other word you can think of).

I remember a mate who was ex forces talking about basic training. Apparently they went through how to wash, including personal areas, and there are plenty of recruits who had no idea how to wash. Shocked

True story. My mum took me to the GP aged about 4, I suppose, suffering from a sore willy, and I was immediately diagnosed with an infected foreskin. Having forcibly retracted it (which believe you me was BLOODY sore, which is why I have a clear memory of the event) the GP berated my mum about my genital hygiene. Obviously I can't remember her exact reply, but it was pretty much "I didn’t know you had to wash it"! Thing was, my Dad was circumcised and when they got together back in the '50s my Mum presumably had no experience of foreskins (and I suppose neither did my Dad, for that matter!; not that he would have had any involvement in my bathtimes), and nobody had ever explained to her about the need for keeping mine clean and smegma-free...

That was on TV a few years ago on one of those documentaries about joining the paras or something. There was a clip of an NCO standing bollock-naked in the showers in front of about 20 squaddies vigourously soaping and washing his bits and explaining the importance thereof; for this exact reason.

Also: hear Penny Mordaunt, MP on this very subject in an excellent speech in the House of Commons

Thats the type of story that deserves a custom title, but what?

Yeah but that story doesn't tell the whole truth about smegma man:

https://metro.co.uk/2019/02/07/clean-penis-man-admits-never-washing-despite-sleeping-40-women-8459246/

Slept with 40 women. Are they stupid?

This is the sort of thing you shouldn't reveal on BCF but whatever, I didn't realise you were meant to clean under there until quite late probably 12/13? and it wasn't pretty by that point Sick

I have an early memory from the same age of going into the office at school, a health worker... at least I hope they were touching/looking at my penis, then saying "that's fine".

Perhaps they took some slices of bread with them?

But.. Were the women just as bad? Had the women never washed their bits either?
Aw man I'm now imagining the smell in the room where unwashed male and female bits are mushing paste together Sad

Just for fun. Story time: True this. I know a woman who used to use the same sanitary pad for the whole of her period.

Really?

It's not true, it's not even close to be slightly true.

The population of the world is ~7.5 billion people.

Snopes: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/recount-your-dead/
"Any statement about the number of people who have died since time began is, of course, a rough estimate, and the answer is also largely dependent upon our definition of when “time began.” Estimates for the number of people who have died since the pyramids were built (i.e., about 5,000 years ago) are around 6 billion, which is fairly close to the current world population. But if we consider modern humans to have emerged around 40,000 to 45,000 years ago, estimates about the number of dead in human history vary widely — anywhere from 12 billion to up to 110 billion. However, most demographers peg the number of dead at approximately 60 billion, which means that there are several dead ancestors for each one of us, and we’re not likely to catch up for a long, long time — if ever."

Livescience: https://www.livescience.com/34162-population-alive-dead.html
"Modern humans, aka Homo sapiens, came into existence over 200,000 years ago. Even assuming a more conservative span of time, say 50,000 years, and taking into account poor growth rates, the dead still win by a landslide.

Well, not literally a landslide; that would be disgusting.

Carl Haub, a Population Reference Bureau demographer, calculated in 2002 that the minimum number of people ever to have lived tallied to just over 106 billion. Others have bracketed the number at 45 to 125 billion."

Julius Caesar may have "irritated" a few people in his time.

Chickenstrip however, never does it.

Ammonia is named from the Egyptian god Ammon (Amun).

Electrons flow from negative to positive on a battery / electrical circuit, not the other way that is popularly believed. It was a mistaken assumption a long time ago that has stuck and not needed to be changed as all the calculations and laws of electricity work just the same no matter which way it is flowing.

Another common misconception about electricity is that electrons 'flow' through a wire.

What really happens is they jump in a random general direction away from the power source, fitting into whatever empty space they can find in nearby atoms. Once they've sat back down, the energy is transferred to another electron which carries on in that same random general direction.

The energy is transferred at pretty much light speed, but electrons themselves move much slower. It's called 'drift velocity', and in a typical household wire it barely exceed 20 micrometers a second.

"In other words, electrons flowing across the contact point in a switch will never actually leave the switch"

That's some boozy fake news.

"Tipp-Ex correction paper was invented by Wolfgang Dabisch from Eltville, West Germany, who filed a patent in 1958"

"Earlier, in 1951, Bette Nesmith Graham invented the first correction fluid in her kitchen and began marketing the product in 1956 as Mistake Out, later called Liquid Paper. Tipp-Ex GmbH only started to produce white correction fluid in 1965"
