Can anyone tell me if all of these came with H.I.S.S?
I'm looking at a 50th Anniversary edition one of these and one of the photo's I've been sent shows the lock barrel without the usual black plastic collar. I thought they all came with it? Am I wrong?

My 2001 Hornet doesn't have HISS but the 2003 ones apparently do

Well, I've discovered that HISS appeared on the VFR in 2000. Although the bike I'm looking at is registered as a 2000 it was made only in 1999 so it potentially has a potential headache swerved and it also goes without O2 sensors and a cat. Not unhappy about those either. It'd probably take a map happily as well in that case.

The 1999 models didn't, the 2000s did. I think the 1999 MY bikes are the anniversary ones. Mine is a 2000 (Fi-Y) and has HISS. The downpipes are a bit more rust resistant on the 2000 on models too.

HISS was/is only fitted on European models, not US so you may be looking at an import (50th Anniversary was more popular in the US, red white and blue...Murka!)

As Honda was incorporated on the 24th of September 1948, I'd guess the 50th anniversary editions are 1999 modely year bikes, hence no HISS.

Ah yes, my mistake the 25th anniversary edition is the RWB 6th Gen. The 50th anniversary edition was the 5th gen in silver, red and yellow.

One was to mark 50 years of 'Honda' as stated, the other was 25 years of the VFR.

My cbr6 has hiss, it stopped it getting nicked but the barrel was still damaged.
I sourced a full lock set with 3 keys for £125, new old stock, off eBay. I got lucky there.

Programming it to the new keys was a piece of piss.

I'd prefer a bike with a factory immobilizer.

I can confirm programming new keys is easy providing you still have one in your posession that is registered to the ECU.

What cocks the job up is if you lose all the keys. Then you're up shit creek.

^ kind of, but a second hand ECU with accompanying key would sort it.
