I’ve been having a bit of Roxy Music = For Your Pleasure, the whole album.
A master piece years ahead of it’s time (imho) .

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RH1r9vNOD7U&list=OLAK5uy_mVfodTKC9wQ4J5P5pEZd14jsNA_UfkQWM&index=3

And this leads me to a question on here.
Are you listening to music that you think is very/ hugely significant and it is largely missed by the masses.
Are the artists/musicians you listening to not getting the recognition they deserve ?

Hooked on this again lately:

I have most of Joe's albums, but this is still the best for me. Oh, how I wish I could play like this! But my fingers are never going to be that fast. So I'll just stick with playing blues I guess.

Agreed, this is his bestest.

I've been listening to Judas Priest - Sin After Sin.
In particular, the superb Starbreaker.

THX1138, you're right. I really need to study a bit about just how conductors conduct, what drives each of them or what makes one better than another. There must be quite an art to getting such a hot job when you look like Oliver Reed on a bad day.

In general, I'd say not.

I think most of the so-called obscure people that I have an interest in aren't really that un-well-known. They're just not main mainstream.

Philip Glass, for example, or Einaudi.
In their own field, they have devoted followers.
Benjamin Clementine, is another. So differently talented. I only found out about him cos I picked him up once when minicabbing.

It's the same as how EVERYBODY (except me) has read Fifty Shades of Grey, but if you ask them have they read Henry Miller (Tropic of Capricorn), or John Cleland (Fanny Hill), they say "Who?"

I do listen to a lot of mainstream stuff.
For example, I am very fond of Ed Sheeran. Possibly because he's like a cute little hamster, but his songs seem to be eminently singable, and played often enough for me to recognise them before I get bored and change to something else.
I just get bored of listening to it over and over again but I guess thats the nature of commercial radio stations.

I like listening to things like Radio 3 after 11pm, there is some super weird shit on at that time of night. Its not all about posher classical music.

I just sometimes like to find stuff that other people aren't listening to.

I'm currently listening to Cosi Fan Tutti, but not really.

I just switched on the telly and flicked through channels.
The Simpsons (tempting!) Easter Eucharist (not at all tempting), or Cosi Fan Tutti.
Nothing else caught my eye. There is so much telly on offer that I hardly ever pay attention to what is in the TV guide.

I really should watch it, there are even subtitles, and its even in almost-modern dress, and I'm not really properly engaged with opera, so it wouldn't hurt to watch it.

But its just on as background noise.

I thought I'd give this a quick listen as I do love a bit of classical music, even though I mostly listen to metal.

It took me a whole 15 minutes to click off and reply to this thread, it's stunning!

Now I'm gonna go back and listen to the whole thing.

Thanks for this Thumbs Up
