Isn't that the congestion charge? Pretty much everyone who has to drive (a private vehicle) in central London pays that now.

Only daytimeish weekdays - I've been regularly in central London recently, but only on evenings/weekends. Unfortunately my van is euro-5, which means it'll be hit by the ulez, making it not really worth it.

I know, I think also bank holidays and between xmas and new years. My comment was with regards to electric vehicles, which I think only applies to the congestion charge.

I believe a few years ago you could drive cars that paid zero road tax for free in the congestion charge zone, obviously they don't want any vehicles in central london now.

So if the NOx emissions aren't on the V5, how do you go about getting the certificate of conformity?

I imagine my 53 GPZ isn't, but if it's worth a punt.

My thinking exactly.

To put it bluntly, people seem very coy in this country about 'bending the rules' - it's seen as just not cricket, but this is one occasion upon which I reckon it would be perfectly appropriate and fair to take a southern Mediterranean approach around the problem. Think how they might treat this problem in Greece, Italy, etc. That would be my way of thinking.

Very interested to know the answer. I'm sure there must be people out there who would appreciate a couple of hundred quid for a ticket to get around this ridiculous and oppressive charge.

The uber drivers have kicked off because the "mostly white" cabbies are exempt from this clearly racist environmental charge.

Goodness gracious me. Laughing

The vast majority of bikers are white, male and straight, so do we have a case for discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation?

They talk of pollution and harm to kids etc ,they never mention the 3rd runway with hundreds more jets flying overhead dropping exhaust fumes above London
It will take a while for my C90 to equal the pollution from a 1000 jets a day

So it kicks off on Monday, I have a letter saying my bike is exempt and records will be updated before the charge comes in but if I put my reg into the ULEZ checker it says I am subject to the charge.

Gonna be a busy weekend at CClondon Very Happy

Pay the ten quid auto-pay admin fee on the TFL website and set your bike up to automatically pay it when the cameras spot your plate.

Then don't wash your numberplate Very Happy

Ta. Checked the website, eventually found the page, which won't be up and running till tomorrow.

Looking at the ulez zone map it appears Minories car park is just outside it. Anyone used that place?

I have a few times, whenever I'm doing training at QA. Loads of bikes there, seems safe enough but I would use a disc lock at least. Free for bikes.

The stairwell is full of junkies from about 4, but they are very apologetic and happy to get out of your way and let you up the stairs. Mostly want to be left alone to sleep it off. Use the lift.
