When riding I can feel when the tyre pressures are significantly low, so no. I think I've gone through the gadget phase and now appreciate simplicity. Also, the previous owner of the R1 fitted anodised valve caps which were noteably heavy and may have been the cause of a split in the base of the valve stem, causing a slow leak. It's one reason I avoid 90 valve stem fittings.

I want a proper bike TPMS and looked at the options 6 months ago. This requires removing the tire and fitting a new stem with the sensor on the inside. I could not find any that fit normal jap bike wheels - bmw are different size valve hole.

The most common are shitty valve cap types. They hold the valve open, also add quite a bit of weight - best with a metal bolted stem not a rubber push fit. This seems to be another valve cap type and would be very sceptical if it is any better than the chinese offerings.

Mousses. Am I missing something here? Tyre foam??

I just see those sensors as extra weight, cost and complexity.
Check before riding, possibly during (if you suspect) and after.

Yep, then I check the pressures when I think the handling doesn't feel right, so probably once a month.

Potholes and speed humps don't do much for maintaining tyre pressure, but I don't need a gadget to tell me that, just the seat of my pants.

I have tpms on one bike but not on the other.
I like on the one bike but it's not really something I miss on the other.
Heat grips are better value. 😂

Real Men use Heated Grips ya cunts...

It's selling to the OCD generation... not a great target audience when it comes to bikes TBH!

My Triumph has them. It also comes with a bill of £150 (+ wheel/tyre removal) every 3or 4 years when the batteries run flat.

That saying I do like having them as you can have the pressures on the dash board or just rely on warning light when they drop about 5 psi.

I'm verging on OCD with my tyre pressures Rolling Eyes

I leave it up to the fitter to put the correct pressure in when I buy a new tyre, although maybe I will start checking them regularly because I'm fed up of being killed every day because I don't check them

You can dig out the old button cell and ram a new cell in.

Use araldite or better to hold the new cell in. Push the cell down with a paper clip until the epoxy is set.
They use those bastirt cells that have a contact spot welded to it.

Just snip that off.

I have replaced one sensor on the rear due to the valve stem corroding.

I slabbered some ACF-50 on the new sensor when I replaced it.

I haven't used the bike for about 10 months but the last time I was on it the TPMS worked fine and the beast is 8yrs old now 20K miles.

Nice to see bikers still getting ripped off. Cars run for a lot longer...

not foam as in a spray, but a solid inner tube that doesn't require air, and can't puncture
