I like Alpinestars stuff. Looks great. Great protection. But when I bought the jacket in the title, zips started going. First the pocket zip. Just minor I thought and thought it was me being too vigorous. Then the other and now the main one at the front!
A cheap casual jacket I think from one of those cheap clothing stores that I bought almost 6 years ago has lasted longer than this.
Any specialist repairs please? I don’t want to ride in a t shirt in this weather. I exected far better and for them to get the basics right for the price they charge when you can get an eBay bike jacket for thirty quid that lasts longer.

Take it back to where you bought it from?

Take it back.

Manufacturers regularly shoot themselve in the buttocks with this sort of shite.

I replaced HG trousers and jacket for the newer model (a few years ago). The first thing was the zippers came without the little fabric tags that help you grab it if you're wearing gloves.
The zipper was still YKK but a cheaper less robust more delicate girl's clothes model.

I got the Jaikit and Troos replaced under warranty.
Opted for cash back and bought a Rukka jaikit with the money. Same retailer.

He was fine with it. He pushed HG to replace/refund.

J&S accessories were not so nice sadly. They said it was out of 12 month guarantee and wanted me to pay £65 to their supplier for replacement and labour which could buy another good jacket but much less pricey than the Gunner.

Oxford Products were the UK distributor for A*, don't know if they still are, but I'd try them directly if so.

write to alpinestars in Italy

I worked in clothing previously, doesn't matter if you have no receipt just write a stinky letter direct to the factory, stress that the jacket is well looked after, not that old etc and hasn't lasted a reasonable time etc.

what they did in the past was contact a near dealer and ask them to replace it, then return the faulty item for credit

If it's separating below the zipper you can often get surprisingly good results by squeezing with pliers - metal pulls only.
Look at it closely, you can even see how it has got slightly too wide to engage the teeth properly

I once worked for an 'upmarket' clothing manufacturer and a trench coat (clue there) was replaced at 8 years old because a button came undone. True that. A director of the company got a stinking letter complaining about it. Within the letter the buyer claimed that if a button came loose, what else has come loose. That was before social media too.

Does this really work? If so what an excellent idea.

I may use this strategy for all future dealings of any item involving an intermediary like a dealer.
Do you think it would work say if there was a problem with the motorcycle and Honda/Yamaha dealership were being very stubborn about the particular part/issue?
E.g writing to the Honda/Yamaha/any manufacturer directly?

A lot of it will depend on the manufacturer. If you get one that cares you may have a chance, but others I wouldn’t your breath! Still more chance than going through the retailer though I expect.

it worked for the guy who walked in our place after complaining about some discontinued Alpinestars boots that were a couple of years old, he hadn't bought them from us but they asked if we would take care of the issue, he got new boots

I have a Schuberth C3 Hat.
I complained about the noise from the chin vent during winter months. Vent closed and the whisssshsssss through the closed vent prevents me being able to hear Terry Wogan through the Communication collar.
Dealer in hull couldn't do anything to help.
The radio tuner in the collar was shite too. Schuberth said re-install the software. Still no better.

I then had problems with the collar functions. It kept shutting off.

The dealer I bought it from in Italy was non-responsive to email so
I contacted the fucking pricks at Schuberth High Command.
They said take it to a dealer for return. I said I have contacted the dealer with no success.
They said, We cannot entertain any repair unless it comes to us via one of our dealers. Arseholes... Didn't our fathers/grandfathers not fight two World Wars to sort those cunts out?

Anyway, I went online, found a site that had posted a fix/repair.
Bought the part on ebay for 15 bangers and soldered the collar myself.
I also up-graded the FM antenna when I had the guts out the hat.
The system works better than it did when new.

Warranty is Stress Heavy sometimes.

Schuberth can go fuck each other if they expect a purchase from me again. Sausage Noshing-Square Headed-Panzer Shagging Pricks Ja vol.
