I'd like some recommendations for something that doesn't just fall off the next day... a week I could live with Smile

I've got some black chassis paint (actually says "chasis satin gloss" on the can!) so frame painting is covered there. This will just be for plastic bits. There's a layer or two of existing paint I can just scotch brite in lieu of undercoat. Just needs to be bargain basement stuff!

If you want a decent result - Sand it and wrap it.

If you don't care - Rat it. Matt black from poundland.

Actually that's a good shout: I may do the majority with black rattle cans and get a bit of wrap for the accents just to see how that goes... everyone loves carbon fibre! (Wait... what century is this again?)

Anyhoo, great idea to try things out when the results don't matter so much.

Neither cosmetic nor protective? I don't get it. If you're not that bothered about the finish and you're only painting the plastics, why bother?

At the moment it's a mix of faded black, faded silver, badly painted silver and shitty stickers - it's just an eyesore. I just want it to look reasonable... at least at a distance.

Just Googled what it is. I'd paint it with fire.

As others have said - rat it. To me they look half ratted anyway!
I'd honestly just be painting it with anything spare I had lying around.

A poor spray job will look awful. I should know, I'm unbelievably shit at spray painting.

If you want it to look so shit its vaguely cool, use hammerite and a brush.

B&Q Trade Emulsion that you have 1/4 of a tin left over from when you did your Mum-in-Law's living room three years ago.

There is no simple answer to this question.

What would you like the paint to do?

Waooh I followed one of these today, a 68 plate. I looked to see what it was as the back wheel looked about to collapse - wobbling about everywhere - I would have flagged the guy but I was in a car. Bearing shot or forgotten to tighten up the axle I don't know...I though it was bigger than 125 until I saw the L plates

Yes, the size is deceptive. I shall make a mental note to kick the rear tyre before I go out on it next Smile

I've regularly used Hammerite and Halfords paints on my bikes - paintbrushed the former and sprayed the latter.

Both have always been excellent and don't cost much.

Hammerite black was excellent on a swing arm and front stanchions, even painted on with a brush, it came out very smooth and even - looked great. Used their high-temp black on a radiator, too - also very good.

Halfords spray I use for general touch-ups, such as when a bike scraped down the road, grinding along the engine cover - quick rub-down, spray with Halford's black and it was fine - no-one ever noticed the job.
