I am making a start on a new project. a Triumph 500 5TA Trials. I want to source quality parts, the bits you will all see on show bikes. I have spent a fortune on the engine and a brand new close ratio gearbox. No disrespect to Ebay sellers but I want top quality bits like Monza and Tomaselli genuine products. Is there a quality supplier over here or do we have to look over to Europe or USA. Thank you.

The bits on most show bikes are invariably crap. Look shiny, don't work.

The bits on most trials bikes look crappy but work properly.

Harsh reality, you need to decide if you want a trials bike or a show bike.

You can get quite a lot of parts from the Wassell catalogue. Some are good, some are really shonky. Just like they were back in the day. They just don't like making them available non-trade proles.

"This bike was bought as an unfinished project which is 99% done and has been done tastefully and with high quality. Registered as historic and a very nice engine and gear box. It is immaculate to look at. I could not get the frame number or see the V5 as I was dealing with a lady. "

" Hope to get it in a week or two when Probate is sorted out "

Who exactly spent a fortune on the engine.............?

I have all the receipts for parts only, thousands. The close ratio gearbox was £650 alone. All the receipts have the same name and address on them. The head had new seats, guides and valves etc. Rear sprocket hand machined, tells a story of sorts. I had to buy a box file to put it all in. Regards Surprised
