Hi
My first post on here. I'm looking
for some help, bought a 2008 CBR 125r and it's turned into a proper ball ache, when I hit high revs the engine cuts out, it'll start back up fine, but always fails on high revs, I've changed the oil, spark plug, air filter and ignition coil, and run a couple of tanks of injector cleaner through it, yet it's no better. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like fuel supply and pressure problem but you know that so when were the fuel filters changed and then a pressure test and injectors cleaned being a 11 year old bike ?

Not had it long, the guy I bought it off lied through his teeth regarding the bike, it's had no such tests with me yet, chipping away at it on my days off. A friend suggested it could be a faulty rev limiter/sensor? Breather pipes are fine as well, forgot to say.

It could be this or that, it could be a faulty T.P.S. telling porkies.
At the end of the day it`s short of fuel at the top end revs.

I'll carry on working at it, one area at a time, eventually I should figure it out.

How about you fix my broken fairing in the hopes of it solving your problem?

Randomly replacing parts isn't really a sensible option for fault finding.

I'm not randomly doing anything, I'm checking and replacing what needs doing anyway, as the bike has been neglected, but if along the way these parts/jobs could be connected to the listed problem, hopefully It'll show itself as I do them. Maybe if you get your fairings fixed it may make your comments more useful 😂

So why did you race the ignition coil?

Does your bike have a socket for a diagnostic tool?

Does it make some flashing lights when you first turn it on?

Diagnostics socket I'm not sure about yet, only had the bike about two weeks, got to fit working on it during my days off, I doubt it though, but i will look into it.

Replaced coil as it's an old bike, they break down over time and it was a quick and cheap job to do. Obviously I'm looking for the exact cause of the fault, but as I go, I'm replacing worn parts and giving it some maintenance which it's over due.

I'm no expert on bikes, I have a basic knowledge I suppose.

You wasted money on the coil.

It was cheap and easy to do, now it won't need doing for a while, I'm ok with it. No, starts on the button each time, nothing obvious there, no lights or anything like that.
