I've done my CBT and theory, now on to my full training.
I've been commuting on my 125 2hours every day for 6 months and feeling very under powered now.
What sort of price should I expect to train up and do the test?
Have been quoted £849 for a 5 day course in Sutton.

A 5 day course sounds a bit long if you have that much experience. Most schools have a shorter option for those who are experienced, the 5 day course syllabus is usually aimed at raw beginners.

I'm in a similar boat to you, aiming to do my DAS this year and hoping a 3 or 4 day course will cover it, which seems to come in at around £500-600 in my area (Milton Keynes).

WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING?

That figure sounds about right, are you speaking with SMT or Phoenix or somewhere else?

Like slowside mentioned, you can do a 3 day course which I'd expect to be around £500-600 but you need to be comfortable on the bike as 2 x 0.5 days will be the test, so it's 2 days of training, basically 1 day for each mod.

I did it in 3 days plus the tests, after commuting on a 125 for about a year. I did have a bit of biking experience from back in my yoof, too.

Cost me just around £500 if I remember right (that was three years ago though).

I did it in 4 days, for £500, without ever having rode a motorcycle on the road before doing the CBT two weeks before.

£850 sounds a bit steep.

If you are confident then 3 days will be enough. I too had a 125 (although i didnt put anywhere near the amount of hours on it you will be) and 3 days was enough for me, yes i was nervous about it but in the end i breezed it.

If you are unsure your instructor will know pretty quickly if you will need longer.

Would you recommend doing a local school over one out of your neighbourhood for knowing the roads better etc? Or should that not really impact?

I take you down a lot of the test roads on mod 2 training to show the more challenging junctions and roads etc. But ultimately while knowing the roads are a slight benefit its not essential, a road is a road and a junction is a junction at the end of the day.

+1 For what Pinky said. It'd cost you about the same where I am.

£850 sounds about right for that neck of the woods. For the sake of a couple hundred quid either way, I'd be much more interested in the quality of the training, rather than the outright cost. It varies massively, as I'm sure our BCF training brethren will attest to.

If you ask for a specific school on here, I suspect there may well be 1 or 2 people that have had direct experience with them.

You'll pretty much make a couple hundred quid back on your insurance after you pass anyway. There's no greater shock than paying for a 125cc on a provisional, then asking for a big bike on a full licence.

I'm doing my DAS right now in London. They gave me a free assessment and recommended a 4 day course with the price coming in at £675, if that's any help for you.
