Seven Extinction Rebellion (XR) activists have glued themselves to the London Stock Exchange, while others have climbed on top of a train at Canary Wharf station as part of a planned day of protest against the finance industry.
Two men and five women, wearings LED signs reading: "Climate emergency", "Tell the truth" and "You can't eat money", linked arms outside the financial institution before 7am.
Extinction Rebellion named the activists on its website and gave their ages and occupations.
They include Alan Heath, 55, a research scientist, Jen Witts, 38, a support worker, Sian Vaughan 53, a retired head teacher, Debbie Rees, 57, a gardener and artist, Kef Shimidzu, 55, a tutor, Lucy Galvin, 53, a civil servant and Johnny Woon, 60, who is retired.
A further six protesters, five men and one woman, also from Extinction Rebellion also blocked a second entrance to the stock exchange.

So all public sector or privileged early retired, all who would have benefited from the finance industry with loans and investment banking in one way or another. Those "retired in your 50's pension pots" don't fill themselves.
Wouldn't it be nice to retire in your 50's and lecture the rest of us on how we should live our less privileged lives? Of course, this lot don't do foreign holidays or flights, because that would be hypocritical. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Easy Tiger,
You are implying that the opinion of a certain sector of society is less valid than other people's. Next you'll be suggesting a ban from social media... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

No, you're not having that one.
These hypocritical fuckwits are not just airing that opinion on social media, they're physically disrupting the lives of others, whilst at the same time, forcibly silencing any opposing views. I think they should be entitled to their views on social media, just like they should allow people like Robinson, theirs. They don't.
Forcibly silencing opposition and forcing your views on the general public, whilst punishing them is fascism of the highest order.
It wouldn't be half as bad if they practised what they preach, but it's these fuckwits causing the damage to the planet, not the more sensible people like me, who they want to punish.
I haven't flown on a plane for 7 years, my energy bills are £60 a month for both gas and electric, I don't waste any food - it gets composted or doesn't come out of the freezer if it's not going to be used. I grow much of my own fruit and veg, make my own cider and wine, reuse bottles and packaging, I walk wherever possible, I use public transport rather than driving a lot, my mileage for all vehicles is under 8,000 a year, I work from home the majority of the time, I use older vehicles and fix/maintain to a high standard, rather than buying new every 3 years on PCP.
It's not people like me who are the problem, it's the hypocrites telling me I'm the problem. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Mostly old ppl...precisely the ppl we're told to ignore with regards to Brexit! If they're doing this because of guilt, wouldn't it make more sense to change their ways, stay at home and create less carbon emissions?
It's bullshit, they're blaming everyone but themselves. Today they were blaming the finance industry, last week it was the Tory government, the week before it was old people. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

A 10 second google gave me the below:
Sauce: https://www.ucsusa.org/global-warming/science-and-impacts/science/each-countrys-share-of-co2.html
2015 total emissions country rank
Country & Total carbon dioxide emissions from fuel combustion (million metric tons) / per capita
1 China 9040.74 / 6.59
2 United States 4997.50 / 15.53
3 India 2066.01 / 1.58
4 Russia 1468.99 10.19
5 Japan 1141.58 / 8.99
6 Germany 729.77 / 8.93
7 South Korea 585.99 / 11.58
8 Iran 552.40 / 6.98
9 Canada 549.23 / 15.32
10 Saudi Arabia 531.46 / 16.85
11 Brazil 450.79 / 2.17
12 Mexico 442.31 / 3.66
13 Indonesia 441.91 / 1.72
14 South Africa 427.57 / 7.77
15 United Kingdom 389.75 / 5.99
China producing nearly 30 times what we do, but I guess you have to look at a combination of overall and per capita. The particularly naughty ones there I see are:
China
US
Russia
South Korea
Canada
Saudi Arabia
Maybe those friends of humanity should fcuk off over to those countries and glue themselves to shit. |

Is a country's area an accurate way to depict it's contribution to the problem? Is it even a useful way? ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Too many people. Somehow we (as in the countries of the world) have to stem population growth.
However I don't hold out any real hope. If China China couldn't do it as a one party dictatorship with their single child rule, what hope has the rest of this fcuked up world population. |
Don't worry about it. There are so many possibilities for destruction of large swathes of the human population, something will get a load of us somehow at some point. Avoid global warming, and it might be disease. Avoid that, and it may be shortages of food or other resources. Failing that, it might be a major meteor strike or volcanic event. Or maybe we'll take a more direct hand in things and nuke each other to endangered species status.
So cheer up! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
