when I sell motorcycles on ebay classifieds, I end up typing something like -
The asking price is the lowest price - this is the price I want, if it doesn't sell I'll keep it, please do not message me with an offer as I will not respond

it reduces the amount of annoying messages, but doesn't eliminate them

So what is your very last bottom price for a Kwik sale, cash in hand.
(I'm asking for a friend.)

I once had someone offering me half the asking price for a van (we're talking £500 for a running van with 6 months MOT and a roof rack which would sell for a couple of hundred by itself). He kept at it. Then someone came along, handed over £500 and drove it away.

The original fuckwit KEPT messaging me asking why I'd marked it as sold, saying he had been going to buy it this weekend for £250. I told him I'd sold it for the asking price but he wouldn't have it, wouldn't be told. Had to block him.

I now sell cheap vehicles by parking/leaving it at the side of the road with a "for sale, enquire within" sign on. It immediately removes the not turning up aspect.

My favourite sentence that puts me right off buying from anyone is -

"Should go though MOT"

It's then that you look up the registration number on the government website to check the previous MOT (unless they've covered up the registration on the pictures, which is suspicious in itself) and realise there's a long list of advisories that were probably ignored because the owner decides that they'll be fine next year.

Then they'll moan like fuck about a massive MOT bill, so, to avoid all the hassle, they'll sell it to some poor unsuspecting mug.

As soon as I see this in an advert, I click off.

I wonder how many good bikes I’ve missed the chance of owning because I have clicked off in the past.

Ah but...

Are they saying that as an encouraging tip?
Or a safety concern? 🤣

Bought a (pedal) bike off Ebay and had an ebay messenger conversation like that when trying to arrange collection.

Took about 8 messages to get his full address and at least twice that many again trying to work out a time. I asked him when would be available, and he said "anytime, just tell me when". Turns out he wasn't available ON ANY OF THE FUCKING DAYS OR TIMES I SUBSEQUENTLY SUGGESTED. In fact, it turned out he could pretty much only make Saturday morning.

What the ACTUAL FUCKING FUCK is wrong with people?

eBay is great when it works but traumatic when it fails.

I recently 'sold' a car on ebay for less than a grand as I needed it gone within a week of the auction ending.

The people who won then ignored every message and text over the next 10 days - every time I called they were busy / with someone and would call back. Didn't stop the cheeky fookers using my ebay pictures on their website though...

On the 11th day I cancelled the sale and rang the second highest bidder who paid and collected it the next day.

The original winners then rang a couple of days later "we've been a bit busy and can probably collect sometime next week..." "tough s hit" was my reply, "I've scrapped it".

I sold my ps4 on Facebook recently, 1Tb and it went for £125.

I'm fed up with eBay scams, postage, buyers claiming not received and eBay always siding with the buyer.

I had the issue that many of the buyers looked dodgy, posing with cars, nuckle tats and more, not the sort of People I wanted around my gaff.

In the end sold it to a teaching assistant with kids and a town fan. Could have sold it for more to the Romania gentlemen, but I'm glad it went to a better home.
