|
|
I had a letter through the door over the weekend from Triumph recalling my Street Twin for a possible safety issue where the clutch cable wears and can eventually cut through the wiring loom at the headstock . I had a look and can see what they mean, the clutch cable is very tight pressing against the loom, although mine is low mileage so I don't think it's had chance to do much wearing through it yet.
If you've got a Street Twin / T100 / T120 and had it from new, this probably isn't news, but otherwise might be worth checking out - worst case scenario is it cuts the engine! The repair is apparently only 30 minutes and obviously is carried out for free.

I think Triumph are great for service. I bought a new Tiger (900) from a dealer in Melton Mowbray - long since closed - yet got a letter from Webbs of Lincoln, who are my closest Triumph dealer, after a couple of years asking me to bring it in for warranty/recall work. Think it was something in the engine control unit.
They may often cost a bit, but you get what you pays for , and I was impressed.
Having said that, when my 4 year old Suzy RGV-250P went "pop" on Xmas day 1997, Suzuki agreed to repair it at no cost to me, so was happy with that, too.
Mind you - the mechanic was fekkin useless and it never felt the same again after - vibrated like, well, a vibrator! ____________________ Fazer Thou Gen 1 |
