I had a quick peek at that. After completing 18600 odd kms he has this to say..

'I would not recommend a Mobylette for a long trip such as this one. I feel that the pulley-switch part of the drive train is a very weak link. It certainly is the part of the bike that caused me the most grief on both of the Mobylettes that I owned. As well, the ignition system and carbon buildup were constant irritants.'

Confused

People like those two are my heroes Wub Thumbs Up .
I can’t even find another rider brave enough to tour the British mainland on a bike as small as a 250, let alone do an epic trip like that.

Everyone I know who is willing to have a bit of a tour on a bike all want to use their Busabirdzx1000 or they’re not interested Rolling Eyes

Hat off to both those two Thumbs Up

You don’t fancy having a go at something like that yourself then Mr A100? Laughing

And before you ask me the same question, the answer is NO! Shocked .
That’s a bit to extreme for me.
I’ll start with getting to the Northernmost point of the British Isles on a 250 at sometime in my life Thumbs Up .

There are also folk who go South on a less cc bikes Thumbs Up , like this fella and co .

My biggest small bike achievement to date was 210 miles (e-w) on a Fizzy (Bedford - Dawlish) when I was 16, poor and braver than I am now. The A100 has been around the mountain circuit but I confess it was trailer-ed to Heysham. Embarassed
I'm currently working on resurrecting a 70s GT250 so that could be the tool of choice for that kind of work. However young kids and the need to work to pay my estranged wife to sit on her pretty, spoilt, arse are shackling me rather at the moment. Thus anything more than a few days at a time is unlikely. Back to I-O-M in May but will likely take the FZ to eat up the miles to Heysham..

So not out of the question but the question is timing!

I rode around 2500 miles touring Scotland from London for 2 years in a trot!

Doing it again this year but probably on a Yamaha R125 instead of my Grom which is sold in principle to a mate.

Touring on a 125cc or smaller has its own challenges and is a different experience and for me it was more fun than doing on the R1 or GSXR1000 that i had

For me i just feel much more relaxed on the small bike as i accept it for what it is and can do and work with those parameters plus its so cheap lol!
Working the nuts offs a very small bike to me just felt more rewarding in a weird way and yeah i am most likely nuts!

I had five different GT 250’s in the distant past.
Everyone wanted RD’s and in those days you could pick GT 250’s up fairly cheaply.
Not a complicated bike by modern standards, so shouldn’t be to difficult Thumbs Up .
The biggest irritation I found was the charging and the points.

I loved all mine, but then I seem to have a weakness for 250’s for some weird reason.

I've had the Grom up to apple cross in deepest Jockistan. it's ok as long as you don't need to be anywhere in a rush

Anyone who can take a Grom that deep into Jockistan is okay in my book Thumbs Up Smile

I did solo LE-JOG and Apple Cross on the 250 and loved it.
