what is the correct way to run in this bike i have heard mixed opinions on this. some say hard some say dont due to oil usage later on. any help would be much appreciated.

Running in the engine

– During the running-in phase, do not exceed the specified engine speed.

Guideline

Maximum engine speed

During the first: 1,000 km (620 mi)

6,000 rpm

After the first: 1,000 km (620 mi)

7,800 rpm

– Avoid fully opening the throttle!

ok so the only issue i have with that is that there is no rev counter and i havent hit the limiter yet so no idea where the roof is in order to judge. see my problem.

Basically don’t be a div, try ride sensibly for 600miles, it’s really not that much, took about 2-3 weeks on my ktm.

Can’t believe you’ve never had a bike with a counter? You’ll have a rough idea when it’s too much. Saying that, going over those guides will not make the engine instantaneously explode.

You’re overthinking it, just don’t rag the shit out of, or do, you probably won’t notice a difference either way, personally I tend to try stick to what the manufacturer says as they’re the ones who built the thing.

ye honestly all my bikes have had a counter i suppose maybe i have always been spoilt and sure i have ridden shitters in fields and stuff with no counter but the point in riding them was to ride them at max all the time so limit wasnt a worry. i wanna make sure i do it right as this is my pride and joy. thats all.

Never noticed it on my 701... one cylinder kinda tells you when you're at red line.
