 |
|
I am a 60 year old with over 43 years experience, have never made a claim on my insurance in all that time, I went online to get a quote for third party fire & theft from Carole Nash on a 21 year old GPZ 500 worth about £900, the amount quoted was £11,284.22, I thought I may have made a mistake filling out the form so I went back over it, no mistakes I received exactly the same quote again.
Strange thing is on GoCompare and Confused.com the quote from Carole Nash for identical cover is £80.31, so why is it £11,203.91 more expensive on their website?
Anyone else had a very high unexpected quote when trying to get insurance? ____________________ More Bikes, Less Cars, make the world a safer place !! |

Yes, I had a similar situation when insuring my GT550.
Via GoCompare, the cheapest insurance quote (fully comp) was through Carole Nash at £85.
Entered my details through Carole Nash's website, and I was quoted £356 or something like that, for the same policy.
I checked the details carefully, and I found that the underwriters were different although the policy terms were the same.
I reckon there is no rhyme or reason to insurance. It's a licence for certain ventures to print money. Insurance for buildings, insurance for companies, insurance for events, etc. All compulsory, and all provided by the same names. Websites like GoCompare and CompareTheMarket are running flawed algorithms with the sole purpose of providing the illusion of consumer choice. There is nobody behind there making a risk decision. It's just a computer program and a set of logos, and whichever policy you "choose", the same people will make money. |

TF&T insurance is now more expensive than comprehensive due to fiddlers buying cheaper policies to make claims on F&T
When did you last insure a motorcycle?
If you just got back into riding a motorbike for sure they will load a policy.
I have 9yrs NCD on one bike and 12 on the other.
I pay about 100 for a 2010 K1300GT and about 250 for a 2011 S1000RR.
Ist time I tried the insure the S1000RR Some quotes were 100000+ Qith avg. 25000. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

Carole Nash renewal letter whacked the insurance for my Beta way, way, way up. Phoned them up, and they said they'd lower it. Then messed me about on the phone for half and hour, then actually increased it even more. |
