Looking for a weatherproof circular headlamp and bracket to replace the stupid aftermarket dirt bike style headlamp that is currently on the bike (minor mot failure as you can not adjust the angle). Distance between the forks is about 7 inches. The standard speedometer and light bright has been cut to make space for the current headlamp unit. Really dont know why they would have removed it.

Also looking for a exhaust to replace the current one which has a hole at the connection to the down pipe. Looking for something that wont be a 'fart cannon' and will be reliable. One from the same bike is £300+ used in bad condition.

I have been looking on Ebay at led headlamps but I have heard they are not weather proof.

I have been looking for a while but I dont know what will be good.

Just buy a 7 inch round headlight, if you need them you can get generic mounts for them too.

Exhausts are rocking horse shit, I ended up badly welding mine up.

Have been looking at some on ebay but non of them mention dimensions in between the screws. Found 1 for £41 from a different website that looks like a much better build quality. Do you have any experience with these headlights?

I family friend is planning on welding it for me, but the exhaust is stuck in place and I worry that I am going to snap it if I try any harder to remove it.

Due to the bike now being a non runner (fuel leaking, happened a year ago and fixed it), I want to strip the bike, clean it and replace a lot of it to turn it into a custom. Mainly due to the learning experience and for fun.

I would post a link to the hadlamp unit I have found, but I dont understand what the guidelines mean about posting links and the whole "rel=nofollow"

The "rel=nofollow" thing is nothing to worry about, it just means that spammers don't benefit from posting links to their website.

Thumbs Up

Don't wreck it. It's nothing special bikewise. I would recommend you fuck around with a CG for maximum ease.

Just sell what you have and purchase something that is proven to be customisable with ease.

The fact that it is nothing special is what is making me want to fuck around with it. If it goes terribly wrong then I don't mind. insurance will be running out soon and I live in a town with access to a car, push bike, etc.

It more for the fun and learning experience than anything.

In hindsight I should have got a more mass produced bike, struggling to find a wiring diagram and suitable exhaust.

I replaced the stock 7" lamp on my Superlight...

I went with a 5¾" "Daymaker" LED lamp. The lens/LEDs come as a single unit with a 3-pin fly coming out the sealed back so 100% waterproof. After that I just got any old shell.

Yes, I did have to make some spacers so the new lamp element didn't rattle around in the shell and yes I had to fabricate my own mount. Caution though: the usually reason for bikes to have a 7" lamp is there's loads of space left over to stuff cables and connectors not just for lighting but gauges and ignition too. I ended up extending some of the wires and relocating the bundle under the fuel tank - a 125 has loads of spare space.

With regards to the exhaust the world is your shell-fish if you can get hold of welding gear: either to fab something out of generic bits or patch up what you have.

Is it TIG or MIG for welding up rough old exhaust steel?
