OK which is the best Chinese direct retail (pirate stuff) site?

Ali Express, Wish or whatever other I haven't heard about?

I'm trying to buy some Lego stuff for one of may grand kids but the legit stuff is silly silly money, hundreds of quid for the sets he wants.

I know China does knock offs but I've also heard of people paying money and getting nothing or utter crap arriving 6 months later.

So any suggestions (and don't be a tight sod and buy the real stuff doesn't wash with me for plastic bricks Cool)

Knock off Lego is cheap and nasty, therefore you should stop being a cheapskate. Razz

I've just bought an HG P407 from banggood, because I'm a massive child.

I've never used the site before, and it hasn't arrived yet, so can't actually comment further.

Take it from me, the trick is to marry someone who can earn FAR more than you can and doesn't want kids. Laughing

Be careful is my first comment.
Next - quality is usually pants with knockoff stuff and with 'Loggo' you'll probably need some glue! I doubt the bricks would hold.

I can't comment to be fair but was at one point importing a heap of torches, batteries and chargers into the UK in small batches at a time.
It was through Aliexpress and the quality was great, delivery fast and prices fair. But.. after about 6 months the quality declined. Now this isn't the fault of Aliexpress but when I began complaining, they took the side of the suppliers! Man I was f*cking livid (still am - I hold grudges).
In the end I stopped making torch sets to flog and went to do something else instead.

Lots of those host sales sites are owned by one person BTW.

Remember import taxes. For years I managed to avoid them by keeping quantities lower and not regular as such. I even managed to avoid taxes on one or two expensive pieces (fake camera flashes) but only 3 weeks ago I was stung for import tax or whatever it's called. It was for an SJ cam. Not much tax and even with that added, I was still quids in.

Shop around is all I can say. Lego is actually traded by the kilo on Ebay. Yup people actively collect it at random and put it through the dish washer before selling as a bulk product.
It'll be hauling in a retro value too.

Go to Alliexpress and search for Lepin. Lepin is a Chinese company that makes Lego for export all over the world. In true communist fashion they can't resist the extra buck and produce identical sets under their own name and without any Lego logos.

I've built several, sorry, bought several for young relatives. The directions aren't as good as Lego's but they're not bad.

Lepin has been shut down, any left are old stock, sure a new ripoff company will pop up though.

I use Taobao a lot to buy good priced stuff. Being local to China I get ordered items within 4 days, but I have never been let down. Might be worth a look it it helps.

Aliexpress, Gearbest and Fasttech...

I bought lots of [redacted] and mostly it's okay and mostly the instructions are fine. You have a chance of a couple of malformed pieces in every thousand but nothing a sharp knife can't sort out.

Got a monkey bike and a chopper on the way from Aliexpress right now to adorn my desk at work...

taobao or jingdong for most stuff and best price. however for either you will need to read Chinese or be pretty patient with Google's translations of the pages. Both are domestic services (world taobao is a bit crappier, less choice, less stuff). you'll also need a friendly local to post it to you or use a "Taobao agent" which for a fee will ship it too you.

Aliexpress is probably easier if costlier and a bit riskier for quality.

Amongst others I have an original 3speed Toyota in need of restoration so one of these would sit next to it well.

Hmm .

Unless very young the kids are smart, they will know and may be disappointed that it is not the real thing. Having bought a lot of lego kits my go to place is ebay for second hand stuff. Problem there is if they are old discontinued sets (eg Star Wars) then they can cost MORE than when new.. but I guess at least it's an investment.
You can also try the trading sites BrickLink and BrickSet..

I've bought several knock off lego kits from wish.com.

They have all been brilliant and a fraction of the price of the proper ones. They turned up in good time and had all the parts.

They are brick for brick copy of the real thing, the quality of the bricks is 90-95% the same. They all went together perfectly.

I also use tabao quite abit, but not being in China I use an agent. Specifically https://www.42agent.com/ Never had a problem with them, or, as their previous incarnation as tabaoring.
