Is Royal Mail first class now a tracked service?

Tracked delivery just tells the customer when it's been delivered, it's not tracked through the Royal Mail system. Same deal with recorded signed for. Those items just go in with the rest of the general post, Special Delivery are the only items which get taken special care of.

Wrong. next time you have a tracked 24/48 item pop the tracking no in the RM website and you will see its journey from the sender, to the local post office to the distribution centre to the the local sorting office then (hopefully) delivered.

Distribution centre to local sorting office to delivery is a long way from being every step of the way through the Royal Mail system.

Special Deliveries are treated different and managers can see who was the last person to have item xyz?

managers get different info to the public, so managers can see which member of staff has scanned any tracked package anywhere in the country at any point in the chain.
