I have a A1 licence (full automatic) for over 5 years passing all the tests and hazard perception. What I want to know is how do I upgrade it to a full licence please.
The test I took was for a full bike licence even answering questions on geared bikes.
Is it just a case of taking the road test on a geared bike ??
any help is apricated be safe Very Happy

you have an A1 entitlement, withb 'Automatic transmision only' restriction.
You cant really 'upgrade' a dreiving licence, its a bit ;ike being pregnant,n you is or you isn#t# there' no imnbetweenm or almostn or super plus!
All you can do isn add a new cat agory pf entitllement... which begs dping and passing tests for that catagory, whether A1 without theb auto restricyion, or any other,n be that a2 or rwul'A' with or without auto restriction....
Forn any/either youn will almost certainlyn need use a school for training / tests if only to put test eligible bike under your bum....n spn go yalk to some scjools,n they will probably want you to do dome training with them before letting you botrrow thier bike for tests anyway,n ans uou will probablu benefit fromm it
, so go talk to schools.

Pretty much what Mike said.

You will have to do the tests again, if it is a full (pink) motorcycle entitlement for Cat A1 which is a 125 cc machine only, then you'll not need to do a theory test as you have had it for more than 2 years. But you will need to do either A2 (If you are under 24) or A if you are over.

Go talk to a local school and they'll tell you your best course of action.

Not quite true Pinky. IF you go A1-A2-A it counts as progressive access and you don't need a valid theory pass. If you want to go from A1 straight to A, it still counts as direct access, and you do still need a valid theory. Its bloody stupid.
