I would loved to have been a fly on the wall when he was told that. Laughing

I live in Plymouth, turns out an ex tory councillor stood as an independent and came 2nd to Labour by 13 votes, he made a complaint to the electoral commission and it found that the Labour council had made a 'procedural error' registering students without their knowledge. 304 procedural errors in fact.

Nothing to do with the Labour team 'signing up' students outside the Uni prior to the election....

I think the Lib-Dems have missed a trick. They would gain more respect and more votes by showing some backbone and refusing Chukka Awhiner. Just like saying no to a coalition with the Tories could have boosted them. The Lib-Dems just shoot themselves in the foot every time.

It just shows how twisted the middle east is when you consider how Trumps also pals with the Saudis.

That statement is just so wrong.

Saudi acts anti Israel to keep it's Arab allies on side but it and Israel have been, if not allies, at least common enemies of Iran for years.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

As I said then, "twisted". If I was a politician I would keep my nose well out of middle east issues and if forced to comment then keep as low key as possible.

A bit more on the Peterborough election....

Police are investigating five allegations of malpractice relating to the Peterborough by-election, which Labour won by 683 votes.

https://home.bt.com/news/uk-news/police-investigate-peterborough-by-election-malpractice-claims-11364370298138

Interesting to see if anything comes of it.

Whatever happens I would think there has to be a review of polling practices in UK.

Three Labour peers have resigned over the party’s handling of antisemitism complaints, with the former general secretary David Triesman arguing the party was “plainly institutionally antisemitic”.

Lord Triesman, who is Jewish and an ex-chairman of the Football Association, said he was resigning the whip in the House of Lords.

Ara Darzi, a former health minister, and Leslie Turnberg, a former president of the Royal College of Physicians, also told Angela Smith, the party’s leader in the Lords, that they were leaving the Labour benches.

That's how I feel about Boris Johnson. I'm pretty sure in twenty years time people will be cuing up to say how they "knew something wasn't right about the guy" a la Jimmy Saville.

I agree. Even at a local level I'm very aware of how shady they are. I know of links to drugs, bullying, dishonesty with money (Labour party actually hid/controlled that one) etc.
