is this still a thing ?
i smoke cigars and we do like a beer/wine/gin.

i dont mind the idea of taking the motor on the ferry to France..
and even staying a night in a sensible hotel to make a day of it.

What an interesting question. I haven't heard people doing it for ages yet 10+ years ago it was a common week end excursion.

I don't even know whether booze is cheaper in France still or what.

I will wait with interest as I now fancy a cruise to France to see how much alchofrol I can fit in the Jaaag. Thumbs Up

https://www.pidou.com/

Spend £250 with them and they will pay for your travel by the looks of it. Seems good prices to me.

Did it about 20years ago in an escort van and slept on the goods on the way home. I made a few quid from that. One of the alcohol warehouses did a run to Belgium? for cheap smokes.

Yep and you can pre order too. Iirc spend 350 and theyll book you on the train. This allows for a mostly paid for shagging trip to bruge and back, and as above stop just short of the french border on the e40 (look for the signs for plopsaland) for cheap rolling tobacco - sold by the bucket

It probably depends on where in the UK you are; if you're near to Dover then it's probably feasible, but if you're any distance then by the time you've expended fuel and possibly even accommodation I imagine any savings will have evaporated.

Within the EU the limits are pretty generous, but if you've got huge amounts you might need to convince a customs officer that it's for personal use only?

Customs putting any limits on duty paid goods from the EU is illegal. You shouldn't have to convince them of anything however they know you can't win cause they can be utter cvnts and have more powers than coppers. Evil or Very Mad

Yes, I've fallen foul of customs and excise. Crying or Very sad
