Hello, I have a Hyosung gt125r, have had a few problems with this 11 plate recently but all have been fixed over time, I had a problem where the battery was not charging and I was having to trickle charge every couple of days over night as I was looking for a new rectifier for it, the battery died on my way home one night and I was close to home so I pushed it back to my garage and then a few days later I tried to start it and it wouldn’t work.

I’ve taken the battery out and moved the cdi to charge the batt but other than that nothing has been changed, now the bike will not spark, battery is fully charged and I’ve even bought a new cdi unit but still no spark, coils and plugs have been changed and everything else works on the bike perfectly, the neutral sensor is fine, the clutch and side stand sensors/wires have been removed but has been done right, can someone please help me out

Brace yourself for old nannas knitting jackboots: yes the grammar Nazis will be on their way...

Bit confused the sensors are all fine but they've been removed?! Which is it?

I have amended the first post haha, the neutral sensor is fine but the side stand and clutch have been correctly removed so that no wires are left that could cause it to possibly not spark

All I can think of is maybe a loose wire somewhere that you disturbed taking the battery out. After that it's time to break out the multimeter.

I’m waiting till the weekend as my friend has a decent one but if it still doesn’t work with finding the possible problem with that (I hope I do find it) then I think I’ll be doing an engine change on Monday and then a wiring loom change if needed, at this point I cannot see the problem, all wires look to be in decent condition but the stator is stuck so if it’s that then I’ll change the engine as I know someone with one with a new stator coil in it, just thought I’d post it on here to see if anyone else had a similar problem haha Smile

The side stand sensor can cause a few issues, mine did.
I cured mine by putting the wires back in place and instead of connecting them to the sensor, I made a loop.

Not had a single problem since Thumbs Up

Get a wiring diagram and manual, there is probably one on here.

Study the wiring diagram and go from there.

You say the battery charging system was not working properly, due to corroded wiring connections??

have you had any problems with say the neutral light flashing on and off when turning the steering from lock to lock, or perhaps the brake light/tail light/horn doing similar odd stuff??

Been doing and frame painting at all??
and how is the earth and any fuses etc..

get a wiring diagram and manual.

you have multimeter or similar, even a cheapo one?

The side stand and clutch sensors are fine, they haven’t affected anything before and I’ve cleaned and checked all connectors. I’m awaiting on a diagram being sent in the post from hyosung themselves at the moment as I called the other day. No there isn’t any corroded wires from what I can see but I’ve got another loom if mine isn’t in good shape after checking it with a multimeter, yes the neutral light does flick on and off but not when the steering is locked, it’ll do it when I turn the bike off after a long day of riding and then turn it on the next but that’s due to a dodgy earth which I’m looking to sort out though it isn’t the problem with the spark plugs as it’s been like this for ages and the spark plugs have still sparked, the tail light and everything else works perfectly, no problems whatsoever with the other electrics, recently got a new battery for it so it’s not that, I’m not sure on anything else really, I just don’t understand how the bike works one day then a couple of days later it just decides not to start, replaced coils and spark plugs yet still no spark, the fuses are fine, I’ve checked them out and the battery not charging was an issue with a loose wire to the rectifier that is now fixed but not sure if the battery is charging now or not as I haven’t ridden it since this has happened haha so until I get a multimeter I won’t know

Remember though that the side stand sensor could be perfect but with a little age the actual sidestand becomes looser or freer to move. If that road is slightly bumpy it causes a slight misfire with each bump you go over as the stand moves and kills the engine for a brief moment.

The side stand isn’t a problem bud, the springs are tight but even still, the wires connecting the sensors have been cut and tied together so it’s always on and I’ve checked over them and they’re still fine bud

The problem I have isn’t that it cuts out every now and again, it’s that the spark plugs aren’t getting any power to them or at least they’re not sparking at all, the engine just won’t start, if it cut out every now and again I could see about sorting that but the problem as currently is that it won’t start at all buddy

No spark.
Ok, work backwards and cheapest options first
Plugs = try them in a different engine.
Plug caps = are they loose?
HT leads = as above/have they broken down
Coil/s = take them/it to be tested.

After that it’s the back box & ignition barrel.
What about the sensor on the alternator flywheel?

That’s what I’d be looking at and using a process of elimination.

Things that have been replaced for new or have been tested and are fine:

Both coils, leads that go into the spark plugs and spark plugs, the back box and ignition barrel have been replaced although they were tested and fine, have no clue about the stator till tomorrow as I don’t have my multimeter at this time but it’s looking like that may be the issue, yes it was kept in the dry which is why it puzzles me why it no longer works after doing nothing hahaha, I’m looking at an engine change as the bolts to the stator are rounded off pretty bad whereas the stator in another engine that my friend has is in mint condition, thanks guys

Hi guys
Before you start messing with plugs coils CDI's
I just spent 3 days trying to get my mates GT125R to spark at plugs.
Never having worked on a Korean bike i treated it just like i would a jap bike.
Changed plugs coils tried another CDI.
But nope nothing.
Believe it or not turned out to be the connector block by the front coil with 6 wires.
It was all corroded as mudguard was letting water and crap get to it.
All it needs is a mud flap on the front mudguard about 4 inches long.
As soon as i found this replaced 6 wire connector block and also 2 wire connector next to it and using insulating tape covered it all up.
Bang bike started no probs.
So check their first you never know.
Last place i would have looked
Happy hunting
