A bloke at work has been searching for one but to no avail.
Apparently the bike is 40 years old and he's chucked money at it, engine rebuild etc, so he doesn't want to bin it or flog it.
I can't find one but then I know f all.

As always, any help appreciated.

Pitchers pitchers pitchers !!!!!!

Don't know if they changed from 1979 to 1983
(I read they made them from 82 on that's 37 years) but
Ebay says this is one for a

"XT 600 Kicker 83-89 Alternator xt600 xt550 Stator Alternator 2kf 43f 34l 55w"
£172 +17.04 P&P from Germany

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XT-600-Kicker-83-89-Alternator-xt600-xt550-Stator-Alternator-2kf-43f-34l-55w/162901961274?hash=item25edb6aa3a:g:g24AAOSwfRdZJljG

Unusual inner profile but it looks pretty simple.
1 cdi source coil and 9 charge coils all easily accessible, I'd rewind the fecker meself
cos I is like well cheap innit.

( It might use a G45 type, if we had a bloody pic....... )

A reg/rec unit? If so, it could be wired elsewhere, using modern unit.

Speaking of which, you say 40 years ago, check if there isn't a modern ignition/charging unit kit, which might be cheaper and easier than sourcing 40 years old parts.

that black box thingy looks more like a pulser to me considering
its proximity to the stator
Looks like an AC CDI system to me.
Not beyond the wit of man to fix or mod another into service

Ditto the regrec if it is that but I doubt it, I stand to be corrupted tho'

If moneys no object we can start tomorrow Laughing

Its a pulser/pickup like this one from a later XT600
trickier to replicate due to it being a two stage type but if moneys no object..........

Hmmm? Thinks!
Does that particular do-dad have a part number?
Did Yamaha only use that part on that particular machine?

Or was it used on a variety of Yamaha machines of that era?
Maybe other bikes/models at a breakers yard could be where to get one.
