If/when dirty, spray all over with SDoc100, hose down when done. Job jobbed.
(Way better than MucOff)

My tip. I use builders hand cleaning wipes for grease removal from rear wheel and other places the chain lube can fling.

Specifically these. https://www.arco.co.uk/product?productcode=27W0400

I don't use fairy as it's abrasive. I use some kind of motorcycle degreaser to start, then I wash it with Morissons car shampoo or WD40 bike wash.

Nothing more complex than that really. I understand the idea of keeping it simple, but Fairy Liquid is the wrong stuff to wash bikes with.

Really? I thought the reason not to use it on vehicles was just that it’s full of salt?

Hmph. If you put salt on a damp cloth and rub with it, then the salt crystals will do a fair job as an abrasive, but if you completely dissolve it in water (as it is in washing-up liquid...) not so much? My understanding is that the salt is supposed to be a corrosion risk; also that the powerful detergents in washing-up liquid cut through any protective layer of wax on the vehicle. Never heard of Fairly Liquid having an abrasive effect - unless you mean when washing your bike while using it a Brillo pad? Shocked

I'm not sure about the salt part, but I wouldnt use washing up liquid just because it's far more of a degreaser than car shampoo and will remove any protective wax you have put on before. Some people recommend using it if you want to strip all the wax on the car and put new stuff on.
I really dont understand why you would use it when you can get a large bottle of car shampoo in any supermarket for £5.

My OH is an expert on surfactants, and she told me the salt is part of the abrasive.

This.

And a leafblower to dry it / get water out of the places it shouldn't sit.
