GT550 ignition timing disc replaced because of broken permanent magnets and previous owner's dodgy ignition advance mod..

Ordered a pair of new Brembo Gold series discs from Italy, the standard ones are warped, had them straightened, warped again on the next ride so I am going to see how good they are as Frisbee's |

Valve shim job just finished (7 of 8 shims replaced). Everything well within spec now. All was going well, then I made a huge cock-up of something and broke something important when putting it all back together. Put it right (I hope) started the bike and took it around the block. Seems to be running a bit better, if it's not just my imagination. |

MK1 CBF1000 ABS.
Spent three hours in total removing the rear wheel just so that I could get the rear caliper off to clean it up. Was all going well, and making good time, until it came to putting the pad pins, and pads, back in place but everything kept falling around and I couldn't figure out what why was the right way since it was the first time doing it on this bike and they fell out when rear wheel was removed. As an added bonus the pads have metal plates on the back of them that clip round the pad but only hold on loosely, and those kept falling off too.
Why Honda decided to make the caliper swingarm mount bracket the sliding pin also instead of mounting the caliper to the bracket and having a sliding pin bracket in the caliper I'll never know.
Couldn't be arsed to remove exhaust to give me more space. Couldn't be arsed to remove mud-guard to give me more space. Couldn't be arsed to remove the entire rear fender to make it easier to pull the wheel out so left it hanging to one side.
Honda's design team really didn't think this bike through at all. No wonder there was a MK2.
Might trade it in for a ZRX1200S at this rate. ____________________ The do it all, T̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶r̶o̶k̶e̶n̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶,̶ ̶T̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶i̶g̶ ̶l̶u̶m̶p̶,̶ ̶C̶h̶o̶n̶g̶ ̶N̶o̶o̶d̶l̶e̶ |

I haven't wheelied it.
Carload of what I can only describe as "older chavs", waiting to get onto Tower Bridge Road from Bricklayers.
I pull up just behind the back window and sit patiently, otherwise I'm gonna end up way in the middle of oncoming traffic
So I get the initial glances, back and front.
Glance once, double take.
Then second glance, as per usual.
Heads craned back and out of the window:
"Aaaoowwww, luv!"
"Alwight, luv! Nice bike."
"Do us a wheelie, luv!"
"G'wan luv!"
I look at them as if to say
"Do you a wheelie?
I've never even wheelied a japper, to order.
I'm certainly not going to start now."
So I gave 'em a Big Rev, instead, and they cheered.
A wheelie! As if!

I rode without a fuckin jacket on.
Ya boo sucks.
I wore a green top with SEQUINS on it, motherfuckers.
Bollocks to this heat.
And I burnt my arse on the engine. At least I had proper jeans on, but it overheats so fucking much just going from Chelsea to Canning Tahn. Godforsaken tractor
Still ... flirted mightily with most of the drivers on the way, so all was not lost.

Tyre pressures, a wipe over and some chain lube before a ride out to Henstridge with my mate Mike. Only had the 1
run on the runway. That's Mike on the Daytona in the pic. Was a decent ride down there, a good blast on the runway and
a belter of a twighlight ride home on miraculously clear roads. Seemed to take half the time to get home than it did to get
there. Quick bikes those Daytonas!!
Under starters orders...

Replaced the HP Corse Hydroform end can on my Striple because even with the baffle in, on long motorway rides it was annoying.
Unfortunately nothing looks as good as the HP Corse to me, but I needed to do it.
So gone from this sexy thing:

To this....

Doesn't look any where near as good, but is quieter. |
