Afternoon,

I'm after an alarmed disc lock that doesnt scream like crazy when you just look at it.

The O/H as an Oxford Boss alarmed disc lock, but you so much as sneeze 50m away, it'll go off. Also because the lock get so gummed up, by the time you've got the key off, it's started to screech at you. Not very neighbourly at 7am.

What be nice is a lock that gives a warning beep then wont go off for 15/20 seconds or so. At least give the owner a sporting chance to remove the bloody thing.

I've looked at some of the (expensive) Abus options, but even they seem to be hyper sensitive. Lets face it, if triggered it's not really going to have everyone running to their windows, they get ignored just like house alarms.

How about some kind of GSM or bluetooth disc lock?!

Stick your thumb over the bit where the sound comes out & it's hardly audible.

Buy one without an alarm - everyone ignores alarms (except the owner having just set it off himself).

My mate has an alarmed one. Batteries go flat etc.
Doesn't help anyway; with a bike running next to his, and his lid on, he can't hear it and I have to stop him trying to ride off with it attached and alarming.

Very good points, thanks.

Just want to make the thing harder to pinch. It's only a VStrom, but still, the pikeys took my Versys so anything is better than nothing!

The bike is kept a long distance from the property, so I cannot hook it up to an optimate. The battery could be flat after a while standing. I do ride every day, but after a weekend I dont want to try bump starting a VStrom!

I have a S4 datatool on my 18 year old CBR, it is my daily but have left it for 3-4 weeks with no issues at all
