There's also time between tests. Where do they do them so frequently? Is it near Luton?

Uxbridge, and they were really cramming them in!

Day 1 of the Mod 2 Training

The Mod 1 was at the hottest time in June and I seemed to have managed to pick the hottest time in July for the Mod 2!

Been a few weeks since the last training so I was a bit jittery on the clutch to start with but soon got back into the swing of it. Barely had any "don't forget your indicators" or "don't forget the shoulder check" so I think it went pretty well Smile The instructor seemed confident I'll pass - fecking hope so as the Fazer turns up tomorrow while I'm doing the test!

High point was going down the A40 just before it turns into the M40... "need that left hand lane" shoulder check... "bugger, van right there. Huh... I'm on a bike so I can just go faster, lovely!" Zooooooommmm!

Low point was coming up to a roundabout, come to a stop and still in 3rd gear... grrrr Sad Other than that there was the usual taxis pulling out without looking, van and a man, etc.

I swear you could be in an APC with L-plates and ppl would still try and cut you up! Be glad to be rid of them Very Happy

It's a while ago now but my first year or two I hardly went out without some kind of minor incident or embarrassment as part of the learning curve.
It goes on long after you have full licence...

It comes down to excitement and safety...

Nowadays I'd need to be going >120 to find any excitement with a car - doing 57.8 mph in a 60mph zone is depressing. I'm totally bored of the whole 4 wheel experience. 60 on a bike, any bike, is a lot more fun relatively speaking for me. Either just for it being a new experience or the fact you're more connected to the road... whatever Smile

Liberties taken? In a car I'm always wincing at the thought of my renewal premium and no claims bonus. Again, not an enjoyable experience. But with a bike it's a simple "...no! fuck you!" and move on. You just see so much more on a bike and you can head off potential problems much sooner. To avoid danger and carry on whereas in the car I'd just be sat there fuming.

The joy of two wheels Thumbs Up

Dont for one moment think losing L plates will stop car/van tards cutting you up, pulling out in front of you etc

The misery has no end.........

You get used to that too! I always thought that 50-odd bhp would be "plenty" as it felt fast as anything for the first few months. 9 months into ownership and full license, it's starting to feel a bit ordinary! Oops.

The journey is at an end...

Passed Mod 2! (4 minor faults)

Apart from the heat what an excellent day! Well obviously I would say that Smile But seriously, the examiner must have been pissed off with the heat 'cos we didn't do as much urban stuff around Uxbridge as I would have expected: ending up going through country lanes through some woods!

Low point: hitting a national speed limit, single lane and getting stuck behind a learner doing 40... most likely on their test too so that's a minor for them!

There were two of us on the Mod 2 from my school. I'd done the full day's training yesterday but the other fella was just doing a retest. Unless you're an old hand at bikes it's gonna take a while to jump on an MT-07 and command it. I think he got 5 minors and 2 majors Sad

And so the journey is over and a new journey begins!

Man with a clipboard on the side of the road? "Once round the block, sonny, and when I step out do an emergency stop."

And thank you! It's down to this forum that I made the attempt so soon. Tef-abuse is particularly effective, BTW Wink

I'd also like to point out there's absolutely no bragging rights on passing the Theory/Mod1/Mod2 on the first attempt and therefore my ego will remain unchanged when conversing with family, friends and work colleagues Laughing

<addendum>

The daughter of a friend of mine is now bragging on Facebook over how she's just passed her car theory test. "What she doesn't mention is this is the tenth attempt!" my wife informed me Shocked

So the next time I see her it'll be like "Hey, Katie, I heard you passed your theory test, well done! Yeah, I had to do my theory test twice..."

"...once for the car and once for the bike."

Yes, I will unbearable for a good few months.
