Again I ask: why do ppl risk life and limb to get here but won't risk life and limb to save the country they were born in?

"Gimmie benefits!" isn't an answer!

It must be part of the answer, but maybe to a different part of the question.

The obvious answer to your first question is, because the country is generally a sh*thole, where the oppressed will always be oppressed and have no future worth fighting for.

But then the obvious follow up question is, why don't they stop at the first friendly country they arrive at?

Hmm... that would be convenient but in my experience they do actually work: they just get viciously exploited by other, richer Muslims. Replacing warlord with danger of death with less than minimum wage and occasional beatings. I suppose that's a win Thinking

Commonly: "I've crossed two continents to make a better life for myself in London..."

That sounds mercenary and unpatriotic. Potential benefit plundering doesn't come into it.

"My daughter is in danger of being raped in the street in my country. Much safer in UK..."

Surely something like that would mean everyone's daughters in the same predicament. Stay and organise a mob with your neighbours (not always successful but it's the thought that counts.)

For example, over 3 million Venezuelans have left their country. Obviously a good chunk of those are women, children & old but surely if they'd stayed there's enough ppl to overthrow the government.

...and now without the spin.

Asylum seekers are not allowed to work. One town in Germany created 7 voluntary jobs to try to encourage 7 asylum seekers to integrate with the local community. Fair play. The 7 asylum seekers were initially happy to do this until they realised that Germany has a national minimum wage of 8.5 Euros per hour, and that they instead would receive approx. 1 Euro per hour as expenses for their labour. At this point they declined, because they thought it unfair to have to work for nothing.

I can see two sides to this, but as usual the Express describes it from one only in an attempt to demonise a million people in the eyes of its readership. As usual, our own voice of the far Right does likewise...

There are more important things than money. These immigrants lack moral fibre.

Like I said, I can see it from both sides unlike the newspaper...

Historically in the past people escaping from or moving away from poverty countries, would get to their land of milk and honey and start at the bottom scrubbing floors and cleaning toilets for pennies to make a start and better themselves.

They would be for a long time very grateful to be free from extreme poverty, war torn destruction, or oppression and make a new much richer life for themselves though.

The Poles and (some) Romanian and (fewer) Albanians coming here adopted this ethic, but the world has now changed.

We need more Chinese boats with very variable build quality as a part solution IMO.

Where do you get this shit from?! They already pick up benefits! They were invited to do some voluntary work instead of doing nothing.

You fancy living on £40 a week? After all, this moral fibre is more important than bills, apparently?

Sajid Javid has said it was “nonsense” to have a net migration target “that you know you can never meet”.

I have never understood this. Why can't we as a country say no more immigration until we get housing/NHS/schools under control.

Even if we have controlled immigration for specific jobs surely we will still get it down to a sustainable level.

I know we can't stop European citizens coming at the moment but that was one of the reasons for Brexit, to control our borders.

What else actually stops a government saying no more?

I've lived on less...

The point was: that if they're not allowed to legally earn an income from paid work and were then given the chance to do some voluntary work which might, I dunno, help integrate them into the society they were so desperate to join they said "poke it."

This is what I never understood when Cameron took office. He'd pledged that "We will reduce net migration from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands".
I'd never understood how he could promise this whilst we were still in the EU and subject to free movement laws. Others will no doubt prove me wrong and say we didn't have to accept these laws, but I still don't understand. Maybe we should crowd fund to have Cameron in the dock for lying?

I watched a video the other day which mentioned that mpd. I was meaning to fact find but life went hectic and I forgot.
The UK really is taking the piss now - UK resident and on benefits and you're sanctioned and yet refused immigrants get money anyway?
Could that money be simply until they're deported?? Still though, it's taking the piss out of genuine UK people.
