Avoiding cracked rivets on chain

I’ve just changed the chain on the zzr. The last one did about 20k and was far from buggered. (The rear sprocket wear prompted the change, although it wasn’t absolutely knackered.)
I removed the old chain properly by grinding off the river heads as you should, rather than just chopping it with the grinder as I’ve done previously. Easy enough other than the flaring of the new chain rivets. I hate the job. It’s barely visible they’ve mushroomed, even when using the tool absolutely in accordance with the destructions. I’d much rather see a decent flared head!
