I have a 500GB external hard drive for my Xbox one. I bought a 1TB external hard drive. I have an Ineo copy machine hot swap drive device and copied the contents in auto mode from one drive to the other. Plugging the new drive in and Xbox sees it as a 500GB and not a 1TB.

Why? and how fix?

Did you copy the files or cloned the drive? If you cloned it, it would explain a lot.

My PC can't read the files I just took the USB lead out of the Ineo and inserted the 2 drives, 500GB and 1TB and hit clone. It cloned it, I assumed it would dump all the data from a-b but I'd have more storage left on b?

It cloned it, it cloned it perfectly. Even down to the 500GB partition size. What did you expect? You expected it to mirror and re-partition the drive?! Rolling Eyes

Google is your friend Smile Loads of people have done the same thing and had the same problem. In essence you either need to clone again but with smarter software or expand the partition (gparted etc.) to fill the available space.

Why have you even tried to do anything other than plug in to the Xbox and press 'move'

Assuming you've replaced external for external, just plug both in, choose to move games to other storage. Hopefully you've purchased SSD, otherwise you've done yourself a disservice.

I can't plug both in. I've only 1 Caddy. It's a 2.5 1TB, drive only. When I plug the Ineo into the Xbox it does not recognise it. I need another caddy I suppose.

Thanks all anyway. Get another Caddy and do what Paddy says and transfer files.

I wouldn't bother if its non SSD man... honestly.

Also, no caddy needed, just grab a USB3 to SATA3 cable.
