After 20 years of Hinkley Triumphs I have bought a Tracer 700. I have done about 4K miles on the Street Twin this summer carrying out IAM training, as an old boy I began to find the riding position a bit hard going.
Chose the Tracer because it is a light weight bike, comfortable riding position, good mirrors, sat up high for visibility and is very nippy.
Just coming up to first service, once that is done I can start opening her up and have some fun.

After being without a bike for only a year, I'm back. Luckily was able to keep my insurance NCD running too which was a nice surprise! With winter just around the corner not the best time to be riding but happy I'm on two wheels again. Normally I'd start thinking about track days but don't mind admitting more seat time required to get used to the torque after various inline 4's.

What made you get this over the Honda SP, RSV4 and Ninja?

The R1 is the most aggressive/characterful of the lot.

Honda and Kwak are 'boring' conventional IL4s. Not my thing.

RSV4 - A bit too linear with the power delivery. Not a comfortable fit for me. Above all, reliability issues and poor dealer network.

I have 4 main Yamaha dealers within 20 miles of me. I have 2 Ducati dealers within 30 miles. The nearest Aprilia dealer is 60 miles away. That's no good.

Love that C15 picture. I had a couple of them between 1971 and 1972. The fun I had on them - and the disasters... Big smile on my face when I saw that bike again.

I also have a 2016 Street Twin.

I do like the style of the Street Twin, shame its a bit too small for me.
The only mildly looking retro offering these days to fit me seems to be the Yamaha's XSR.

Ah - shame that. Bikes being too small for me is not a problem I ever have. It is a perfect height for me. So is the CB250 Nighthawk I just got because it was so cheap. There a re a lot of bikes I can't flat foot and some I couldn't get on at all. Smile
