Hi all, I have a 1996 P1 which I have owned 5 years.

Firstly the last time I rode it was 2 years ago, after I had the valve clearances checked/carbs cleaned and a full service. Picked it up, put in the garage hasn't been started since.

So after a full battery charge, the bike is sometimes turning over but sometimes I get the clicking.

I've put fresh juice in, still no joy.

Any help is appreciated

The first obvious item to look at is the battery , sounds like it is flat or worn out and in need of replacement

Thanks for your reply.

So basically buy a new battery? Is it safe/recommended to try a jump start from a car battery?

You could try charging it overnight, but if it does not come up , yep, a new battery

I recently purchased a new battery, only to discover my existing battery is a 9v??

I’ve bought a 12v one to replace it, why would it have a 9v battery on it?

Very strange as Kawasaki state it should be 12v

usually has 6 cells so would be a cell or 2 down.

Update!

After a full charge, I tried it this morning and the bike started after 10 attempts.

Thanks for all the input everyone 👍
