Well it's been a horrendous couple of weeks and the pain continues. He's been in and out of hospital as his blood curdling screams sound as if his skin is getting slowly burned off with a blow torch. They just tell us it's a waiting game and tell us to keep on with the movicol laxatives and the ibuprofen/paracetamol double whammy.

Apparently the blockage caused fissures in his rectal canal and now every movement feels like shitting broken glass. It's be a fucking horrific experience. His screams continue to haunt my waking life, and also interrupt my sleep.

Can't wait for these fissures to heal and allow nature to take it's course a bit more quietly. I'm really worried about the psychological aspect of it though. I hope to god this doesn't become a thing. I feel bad for you guys that have been dealing with this for so long. It really is a nightmare. The stress is horrible.

We are at a 6-7 on the poo chart and all hard stool have been evacuated, so it's all nice and loose now. It's just the pain he's feeling which is causing the holding... but he can't hold for long as it's so loose.

Wish us luck

I do wish you luck. Please use plenty of antiseptic cream also as the last thing he'll want is the fissures to become infected because they hurt too much to clean properly. I'm sure you are doing this already though.

Sorry its too late now but if this happens again, my eldest had a similar problem. After 3 days of it on advice from another mum we took her to an osteopath for a baby massage. I was skeptical but she did her thing, little one let out the biggest shit she ever had to date and slept for 12 hours straight. Every 6 months or so when the sleepness nights returned we would be back and problem solved again

Well, you'll have to go all mumsy, and make sure he has lots of drink and whatever helps move things along, and be supportive, saying "Oh, just try, you wouldn't want to be all bunged up again or it will be much worse" or toddler words to that effect.

As it happens, I have some California Reapers just ripe this week.

No idea what the hell I'm going to do with them.
