Hi all,

My name is Ugo, and I live in London (I'm originally fro Italy).
I'm thinking to buy a bike and considering something I could do some touring with.

So far I've viewed a few bikes, a F800s, a GSX650f, a Versys 650, a Z750s, a Bandit 650s and a GS500f.
All good choices with their respective pros and cons, but I'm still struggling to understand where is the balance between the bike I want and what is sensible if I want to do some touring, alone and with a passenger.

I'll update this post as I proceed with my search.

Ugo

I think one of them skipped meds and beat you to it!

London rider suggests that you'd need something sensible for touring on, like a zzr1400 or something that won't get nicked, no-one ever want to nick those Beemer F800s'!

In short you want something that your pillion isn't going to bitch about for the whole tour (ie, give them a comfy perch), something that is nice to manoeuvre through London's spacious transport routes and something that is marginally less appealing to the filth that steal bikes - perfect machine would appear to be a C90 but as it's not on the list I'd probably settle for the GS500f, although it may bore the pants off you before the missus chews your ear off.

A garage, lots of locks, a big dog, a big axe and a bad attitude.

Or move. Thumbs Up

Then, and only then start thinking about a bike.

I recommend an american akita - will hear a butterfly sitting on your bike from a mile away in thunderstorm (but will not hear his name from the other room)
