I wasn't sure how to correctly clean the cut, so phoned NHS 111. Who very helpfully wouldn't tell me and told me to go to A&E.
A nurse phoned me back, and also told me to go to A&E.
We agreed I'd wash the cut out, and carefully bandage it, after I said I wasn't going to A&E. Also, I didn't agree that I'd go to A&E in the morning.
I thought A&E was bursting at the seams with timewasters, and non serious ailments, so I was puzzled that they seemed so keen on me going. I've had plenty of tetanus shots, I said I'd seek help if it looked like it was infected etc |
Am I missing something? Can't see any gashy goodness?

When I got gravel rash on the inside of my knee cap, I never went A&E, I went doctors about three days later and they said I had done a good enough job. Jumped in the shower and gave it a scrubbing whilst the adrenaline & shock was still kicking, so it didn't hurt.
I bought a antiseptic spray and applied it about 3-4 times a day and wore shorts until the scab fell off. Got a gnarly scar though, looks like a hole in my leg.
Young and stupid, wore all the gear on road bikes, on a off-road bike engine seized and threw me off, nothing but a lid. |
